The Michigan Supreme Court ordered the Board of State Canvassers to accept a measure that would enshrine collective bargaining in the state constitution. Michigan Supreme Court: Casino proposal off Nov. ballot; 3 others on. The Board of State Canvassers will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and is
expected to consider certifying the proposals. Friday is the deadline
for proposal certification for the November ballot.
Earlier, The Michigan Supreme Court had ordered a measure to repeal Public
Act 4 of 2011 on the ballot, which gives emergency managers appointed to run
financially struggling cities and schools new powers. [Michigan's "economic martial law" statute.]
Another measure on the ballot relates to a home health care program and collective bargaining for those workers.
Michigan's labor unions have the ballot measures they sought to turn out the vote. Now comes the ground game to pass these measures.
