Mitchell Seeks Cuts to Wealth Taxes

Link: Mitchell co-sponsors bill that aims to cut capital gains and estate tax.

WTF is Mitchell thinking? Cutting Capital Gains and Estate taxes overwhelmingly benefits the wealthiest Americans, who need it least. Mitchell prattled about the ways in which these cuts would benefit the average person selling stock or a house, but completely ignored the issue that the vast majority of the benefit would accrue to those who need it least and are prospering as never before under this Administration.

How about a payroll tax cut, Harry? Or raising the income tax exemption higher, Harry? Or expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit, Harry? Or reforming the AMT to exclude middle class families, Harry? We need tax relief for working people. Don’t you have ANY higher priorities as a Democrat than the fucking capital gains and estate taxes?!

Shame on you Representative Mitchell!

When asked how he intended to pay the estimate $332 billion dollar bill for his plan, Harry responded vaguely that he thought it was reasonable as we are spending $124 billion a year for the war in Iraq. What? How does it make sense to program another deficit-based tax cut BECAUSE we are spending ourselves into oblivion on a misbegotten war?

Shame on you Representative Mitchell!

I encourage everyone to call Mitchell’s office and give him a piece of your mind on this issue. The number of his Arizona office is (480) 946-2411, and his Washington office is (202) 225-2190.

  1. ForcePrimeval; I could not have said it better being a life long democrat when the Democratic Party stood for something more than raising taxes; National Healthcare for Illegall’s; telling you what kind of lightbulb, car, toilet, house and food(Chinese Tainted Human and Pet) you can eat!

As Edwards Wife wants to put a Carbon Tax on Fruit that is not grown locally!!!!

  2. As an active Democrat, I have always thought it my duty to protect the values of the Democratic Party. Many of my fellow Democrats think that we must prop up the Democratic incumbents. I have confidence in my approach when I read news like this.

It’s time that we notify our fellow Democrats who hold office that they have now crossed a line and are starting to hurt the party. Recently I have seen a major decline in Democratic voter registration even when the population increases. The Independent and Green Party numbers grow at rates never seen before. With further investigation, we find that the ex-Democrat has had it with the behavior of our Democratic-led Congress. This current behavior of Congressman Mitchell is unacceptable and I hope every Democrat reading this calls his office.

While you’re on line with them, let them also know you didn’t like his May 24th Iraq Occupation Supplemental, officially known as the War Supplemental bill. This is costing us over $100 billion and is now racking up the highest death rate of American soldiers since our illegal invasion of Iraq. This was a vote where he sided with the Bush Administration where only 81 other Democrats also joined in continuing this horribly failing foreign policy.

I now wonder about some of our Democrats in office. I have heard that when we see situations like this, the politician is either stupid or paid off. I wish there were other choices.
