No, there’s no political bias in the Tucson media market (riiiight)

Our alleged political reporters in the Tucson media market are all doing stories about the Tea Party because Tax Day is Monday, and Trent Humphries' merry band of fools has a Tea Party rally coming up at the end of the month with Andrew Breitbart (what, you couldn't figure out how to schedule it for Tax Day weekend?)

The Arizona Democratic Party held its Spring State Committee Meeting in Tucson on Saturday, and unless they were incognito in disguise, I did not see a single political reporter from the Tucson media market in attendance — I know who you are.

Here's some news you missed while you were too busy sucking up to the sinking ship of the Tea Party. Poll: Tea party favorability falls to record low.

Fred DuVal, who was recently elected the incoming chairman of the Arizona Board of Regents Arizona Board of Regents elects board officers for 2012 fiscal year, announced that he is resigning his position as DNC National Committeeman and that he will not be a candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2012, so that he can dedicate his full attention to saving education in Arizona from the assaults of the Tea-Publicans that our alleged political reporters are all too busy sucking up to.

Randy Parraz announced that the Recall Russell Pearce effort of Citizens For A Better Arizona is very close to having enough verifed qualified signatures to force a recall election. This recall is going to happen. I believe this would be the first successful recall of a sitting state legislator in Arizona history. When the petitions are filed it will be a national news story because Russell Pearce has made himself and the state of Arizona a lightning rod for the polemic politics of Birthers, Birchers and Secessionists. And the national news reporters will crowd out the local yokel reporters who passed up the opportunity to get out in front of this story while they were too busy sucking up to the Tea Party.

Rebekah Friend, executive director of the Arizona AFL-CIO was present, and talked about the bill that Gov. Jan Brewer will drop on Monday in the Arizona legislature which will end the merit selection system for public employees. Gov. Brewer plans to return to the spoils system of political patronage and cronyism. Brewer's still-emerging plan to change Arizona personnel system is in limbo. Public employees would have an incentive to keep working for politicians and their party — as opposed to a system of awarding employment on the basis of some measure of merit independent of political activity. This bill goes well beyond what recently occurred in Wisconsin. This is the stuff of Boss Tweed and Tamanny Hall. Our alleged political reporters could have interviewed Ms. Friend for a background piece in advance of this bill dropping on Monday, but they were too busy sucking up to the Tea Party.

Congressman Raúl M. Grijalva was present and talked about "The People's Budget" of the Progressive Caucus and how it compares to Rep. Paul Ryan's Roadmap to America's Ruin. The People's Budget has been reported elsewhere (including here) and The Arizona Republic, but not in the Tucson media market by our alleged political reporters. So let me help you out. Congressional Progressive Caucus : FY2012 Progressive Budget. Pick up the phone and call the congressman for an interview — do your damn job!
