I never understood why anyone thought that Phoenix had a realistic chance of being the site of the 2016 DNC National Convention in the first place. The Los Angeles Times reports,
:The Democratic National Committee on Monday winnowed its list of potential 2016 convention sites from five cities to three: Columbus, Ohio; New York and Philadelphia were selected as the finalists.
“We are fortunate to have such a diverse and vibrant group of cities interested in hosting this special event,” DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said in a statement.
The DNC dropped Birmingham, Ala., and Phoenix from its list of possible cities. A final decision is expected early next year.
In July, the Republican National Committee selected Cleveland to host its 2016 presidential convention.
At news conference last week, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city’s host committee has already pledged to raise $10 million of the $100 million it estimates would be needed to host the Democratic gathering.
Each party plans to hold its convention before Labor Day in 2016.
I’ll go out on a limb and place my bet on New York City — the center of the universe for media villagers who never want to venture outside of the tri-state area and see the real America that exists outside of their protective media bubble. And if we really are to have a Hillary coronation, she was the Senator from New York after all.

Why would they want come to phoenix anyway?
I think they will choose Columbus as an offset to the RNC choosing Cleveland and especially since Ohio has been a “battleground” state. New York is firmly Democratic enough in presidential elections.
But they want to do it in Brooklyn, which doesn’t have much hotel space. People will have to stay in Manhattan at $400-500 a night. NYC is great to go visit for sightseeing and Broadway shows but will be a clusterfuck for a DNC convention. I’ll be watching it on TV.
