DCSRA Current Events Discussion Group

Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m.: Democratic Club of the Santa Rita Area hosts a Current Events Discussion Group at the DCSRA Headquarters, Continental Shopping Plaza, 240 W. Join us at the weekly meeting of the Democratic Headquarters Current Events Discussion Group. We’ll talk about some of the major events of the previous week, including but not limited to political topics, and try and go behind the news for a deeper understanding. Drinking Liberally

Third Wednesday of each month, 6:00 p.m.: Drinking Liberally returns to Tucson, at Ermanos Back Room, 220 N. 4th Avenue, Tucson. We need to know by the morning of each meeting approximately how many folks will attend. Please RSVP to tucson@drinkingliberally.org. Informal but thoughtful conversation, good wine and beer, and good food. There is no obligation to order anything–but as a thank you to our host, I hope everyone will order at least one drink (alcoholic or otherwise). There’s some street, a parking lot across the street, and the streetcar stops outside their door.

Monday, January 7: Inauguration of Governor Doug Ducey and state officials.  The inauguration ceremony for Arizona’s six state elected officials  will be held Jan. 7 at the Capitol Mall. Seating begins at 9 a.m., and the ceremony starts at 10 a.m. The event is open to the public, but free tickets must be secured online in advance starting Saturday, January 29 at 8 a.m.

Beyond Tucson 2019

Saturday, January 12: Beyond Tucson events, commemorating the tragic shooting on the morning of January 8, 2011 in Tucson, Arizona at Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ “Congress On Your Corner,” the Southern Arizona community spontaneously came together to honor, remember, and show solidarity for those that were killed, injured, or traumatized by the event. In January of 2012, we launched the inaugural BEYOND event, which included as many as 36 individual events spread across the entire greater Pima County region on a single day—including hikes, fun runs, bike rides, scavenger hunts and outdoor dance opportunities. The annual tradition has continued each year thereafter.

State of  The State Address – Tucson
