By the end of the day there will be four – count 'em, four! – mayoral candidates disqualified from the ballot because they were either ineligible to run for office (Marshall Home™) or so incompetent that they failed to gather enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot (Pat Darcy, Ron Asta, Shaun McClusky).

How long do you think it will it take the insufferable Arizona Daily Star to publish another WATB editorial opinion bemoaning the lack of choices in this year's city council election as it did back on April 24, 2011 with this editorial opinion ironically titled Tucson needs you to quit carping and get involved.

(It is probably being written at this very moment.)

Has it ever occurred to the editors of the Arizona Daily Star that their constant denigration of the City of Tucson and berating of its city government is a major disincentive for anyone to run for office and to voluntarily subject him or herself to the constant abuse (often unwarranted and unjustified) fom the local daily newspaper?

Maybe it's time for some introspection and deep contemplation of this question.
