Remember when Republicans opposed filibustering judicial nominees?

Remember when Republicans threatened the "nuclear option" of ending the U.S. Senate practice of filibuster and cloture when Democrats held up some of President Bush's appellate court nominees? The standoff ended when the Gang of 14 signed an agreement in which seven Democrats agreed to support confirmation and seven Republicans agreed to oppose the "nuclear option." Judicial nominees deserved "a simple up or down vote" – remember that?
