District 2 Supervisor Ramon Valadez made the motion to appoint Dalessandro, 2nd by Supervisor Richard Elias. Supervisor Valadez said he felt that a level of legislative experience was needed for this position to represent District 2. Only nominee Demion Clinco was present at today’s board meeting.
Dalessandro will serve until the end of 2014, since this seat is up for election in November. She has said she will run for the seat.

Since this appointment will open up the LD 2 House seat, the same process of a precinct committee meeting to select 3 nominees will be held shortly in LD 2.
The Pima County Democratic Party in a press release adds:
Dalessandro is tentatively scheduled to take her oath of office Wednesday at the State Capitol in Phoenix. The Senate Majority staff continues preparations for the ceremony and has not yet set a time. Dalesssandro will serve out the remainder of Lopez's term.

A special election will be held to fill Dalessandro's seat in the Arizona House of Representatives. That process will begin once the Speaker of the House informs the Secretary of State of the vacancy left by Dalessandro's appointment.
