Rep. Raúl Grijalva on Senate immigration reform bill hearings

Rep. Raúl Grijalva chastized Senate Republicans on
Monday for using the Boston Marathon bombing to fight against
comprehensive immigration reform. On Monday, Sen. Chuck Grasssley (R- iowa) threw a hissy fit trying to deny what he plainly said last Friday. POLITICO Tiger Beat on the Potomac reported, Terrorism enters immigration debate:

“We appreciate this opportunity to talk about immigration reform in
light of all that has been happening in Massachusetts,” said Sen. Chuck Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee Friday at an immigration reform hearing.

Raw Story reports, Rep. Raul Grijalva blasts Republicans for using Boston bombings to stall immigration reform:

“To prey on the raw emotions of the American people right now, after
this tragedy in Boston, to prey on their insecurities and justifiable
anger, to try to delay a bill, stall a bill so nothing is done, is
nothing more than a tactic, and it’s very disappointing,” he said on
MSNBC. “If you want to have security in this country, part of the
package has to be comprehensive reform so the millions of undocumented
people out there come forward, we know who they are, and you begin to
cull who is eligible for a path to citizenship and who should not be
here.”

“I don’t know how Sen. Grassley or anybody else would be able to pry
into the very core of of a human being when they are 16-years-old to
find out they will be part of a horrible act like this ten years later,”
Grijalva said. “The fact remains that we’re going to pay another $5
billion on top of $18 billion for security along the border. That $5
billion should be targeted, it should go after the terrorism question we
are talking about.”

Chuck Grassley "doth protest too much." He was criticized by other Republicans last week for his comment. As Sen. Chuck Schumer explained to Sally Sensitive Grassley, "I didn't say you did, sir," he replied. "I didn't mean you, Mr. Grassley."

As CNN reported, Leahy: Boston bombings exploited in immigration debate:

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Kentucky, sent a letter Monday to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, urging a delay of any immigration legislation until more is learned about the alleged Boston bombers.

"We should not proceed until we understand the specific failures of our immigration system," Paul wrote. "Why did the current system allow two individuals to immigrate to the United States from … an area known as a hotbed of Islamic extremism, who then committed acts of terrorism?"

It is the village idiot, Aqua Buddha, who is fear mongering over the Boston bombing to delay the immigration bill hearings, so chill out Chuck. Rand Paul Calls for Immigration Bill to be Slowed After Boston (full text of letter). Paul had been a vocal supporter of immigration reform.
