Results for City of Tucson special election on Prop 414

Today was the day for the Special Election by the City of Tucson regarding Prop 414, the so-called Safe & Vibrant City proposition to increase the city sales tax by half a cent for 10 years.

City of Tucson Election Dept. has released the early returns: https://www.tucsonaz.gov/files/sharedassets/public/v/1/clerks/documents/elections/results/2025/special/25saztuc_unofficialresults03112025.pdf

Yes 23,084

No 53,350

Stay tuned for updates, but it appears that Prop 414 has been defeated.

My husband and I attended the Yes on 414 campaign election night party at the Tucson Firefighters Assn. Union Hall. PCDP Executive Director Alex Kack was there, along with Ward 3 Councilman Kevin Dahl, and Ward 6 Councilwoman Karin Uhlich. About 30 people in attendance but we had to leave early before the results came in, as my husband had another event at the UA.

Voter turnout was 25.01%.

  1. Per yesterday’s NewsNet alert from City of Tucson: “Ballots cast or submitted on election day will be processed over the next two days and tabulated on Monday, March 17. Final results are expected to be posted that evening.” So final tally should be done next Monday in case you’re curious about final results.
