Apparently the Arizona Democratic Party has decided not to challenge Secretary of State Ken Bennett's incorrect interpretation of Arizona law because the Arizona legislature is in the process of correcting his error for the future by legislation, and the replacement of Daniel Patterson will be a one-off event.

The Pima County Board of Supervisors today appointed the five member panel to review applications from "Independents" (not an organized political party in Arizona). Panel chosen to help pick new state lawmaker:

The Pima County Board of Supevisors selected the five-person citizens panel during a special meeting this morning.

They are former state lawmakers Victor Soltero, Tom Prezelski and Lou-Ann Preble, governor's office director Kristin Almquist, and school administrator Julie Dawson.

The board decided applicants have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to submit paperwork to the board clerk’s office at 130 W. Congress Street.

The nominating committee will forward three applications to the Board of Supervisors on Friday.

Public comment on the nominees will be taken by the Board of Supervisors over the weekend. (Watch for Public Notice how to comment).

The Board of Supervisors will meet again next Monday, April 23, to vote on the appointment of a new state representative for LD 29.
