Sorry Republicans, the Honduran refugees aren’t this year’s “headless bodies”

Crossposted from DemocraticDiva.com

On Tuesday morning, some goobers in Arizona thought they were going to repeat what goobers in Murrieta, CA did last week, when they got a bus full of refugees from Honduras to turn around, and border agents to stop sending anymore migrant children through their community, by being screaming assholes. Sadly for the Arizona effort, the bigots were only able to challenge one bus full of American kids going to a YMCA activity, though one Adam Kwasman, candidate for Congress in CD01, did succeed in making himself look like a giant dumbass.

Basically what is happening is that a lot of the conservatives here are engaging in a fumbling attempt to party like it’s 2010, when they rode immigrant bashing all the way to a smashing victory in that midterm election. SB1070 was many things, but one of the main things about it was that it was one of the most well-played scams in political history. It was pure flypaper to get Republicans out to vote, while dampening Democratic turnout, and making a fortune for Republican politicians and consultants. Much of the voter support for it that was not overt racism was justified ginned up hysteria over a murdered rancher, cartels, and “headless bodies in the desert”. Invoking those menacing images enabled Republicans from Jan Brewer on down to claim they were protecting Arizonans from violence with SB1070. This is not so easily claimed with teenagers and small children fleeing their homelands in terror. Even Kwasman had to pretend he saw “fear on the faces” of the children on the YMCA bus. The screaming meemies protesting the childrens’ arrival are forced to emphasize “diseases”, because it’s obvious to any sentient being they are seeking refuge from violence, not trying to bring it here. Outside of making this about Obama, I’m not sure how much this would help any Republican here in November.

  1. They are totally trying to party like it’s 2010, and unfortunately, the media villagers are playing right into their hands. MSNBC pumped up the ugly American part of yesterday’s happening and almost completely ignored the welcoming refugee supporters.

What’s really scary is the level of hatred, fear, hysteria, and misinformation on the right. The comment section on my blog has blown up with incredible comments about the cartels, diseases, Obama bashing, immigrants taking our jobs, we can’t be responsible for them because they screwed up their country, etc. One idiot even defended the Koch brothers when I said if we stopped corporate welfare and taxed the rich that we would have plenty of money to feed, house, and educate all of the children– ours and the refugees. (F**k you, Jose and Maria and your little baby Jesus, too!”)

I thought about not allowing some of the comments but decided it was instructional (although somewhat disheartening) to see how far out in left field they are. (Also, they took issue with me calling them “rednecks”. Their comments show it is a fitting description.)

I was in Oracle yesterday; the haters are not the whole story. (Yes, working on a story and video.)

  2. BFA should post Resnick’s video with Kwasman posted above at Donna’s “dumbass” link. It’s a classic. That guy would fit right in in DC.

  3. Wow! What the hell happened to the profession of journalism? The author comes across like a retarded liberal, calling these concerned residents juvenile names and implying that those concerns aren’t viable. And the reason that there weren’t any of the Democrat party in attendance is because the evidence against the illegal children being possible disease carriers as well as some being members of gangs like MS-13, is overwhelming, coming out of the mouths of our Border Patrol and a few medical personnel that are treating these people directly. The author obviously has some real issues with dealing in reality.

  4. Oh, and one more thing – I live in AZ not that far from the border and YES, there were some headless bodies found in the desert and Gov. Brewer was correct when she said this because one had been found shortly before she made that statement. Also, are you aware that Mexico has an agenda to take over the U.S. they call Aztlan (& La Reconquista = The Reconquest – of land they only owned 24 years and the rest is based on myth legend they have no proof of!) starting with the SW. They plan to throw everyone out who is not of Mex. descent and murder anyone who does not leave. Their agenda is based on lies and myths!

  5. Actually, they were very successful. The bus was told NOT to come because so many people are against having billions of U.S. dollars spent on people forced on us when we are now Trillions of dollars in debt (thank you, Obama!) and many of these “kids” (I just read that over 80% of these illegal aliens are over 18 – not kids in my opinion) are gangmembers that BP agents have actually recognized as having been deported previously. Also, there are people from 140 countries including the 11 Arab terrorist supporting nations and some are on the terrorist list assuredly! This is why every nation has immigration laws as we do, too – to keep out dreaded disease & keep out foreign criminals & terrorists. I would urge all Americans to protest this – we cannot take care of everyone’s poor (we are no longer a rich nation & are bankrupt now) and people need to come legally so we can keep out those who come to harm our nation & our people!

  6. Terry goddard appealing to anti-immigrant white democrats discouraged the arizona democratic future young hispanics from coming out to vote. Hopefully he has learned his lesson this time. Where was the arizona democratic party at Oracle today? Where was fred duval?

  7. How did SB1070 dampen Democrat turnout? I would have thought that, if anything, it would fired up the base and MORE Democrats would have made it to the polls.

This a serious question…I would be thankful for an answer.
