Surveillance for COVID-19 – Update

The governor has already issued two executive orders for increased surveillance in AZ.  He invoked A.R.S. §36-782 on March 23, 2020 (E.O. 2020-13).  It calls for reporting, patient tracking, information sharing, and specimen testing coordination.  It mandates that health care facilities shall share personnel, equipment, materials, supplies and other resources.

He also invoked A.R.S. §36-784 that allows for identification, treatment, and tracking of patients who may have been exposed to the virus.

On April 7, he issued an updated executive order (E.O. 2020-23) supplementing the earlier one. It allows access to patient data and daily reporting of those positive and those suspected.  All is still to be kept confidential and not available to the public.
