‘Survivor – GOP Presidential Primary’ debate a farce

Wow. That's two hours of my life that I would like to get back. The "Survivor – GOP Presidential Primary" debate on ABC last night was a farce masquerading as "serious" news. Diane Sawyer and "Snufalufagus" will be treated as oh-so-serious news reporters by their peers among the Sunday morning bobbleheads today who are equally devoid of any substance and seriousness.

If we are going to save our democracy we need a New Rule: Television infotainment personalities should be banned from moderating or participating as questioners in presidential debates. They are dumbing down our society and debasing our political process.

It would be great if someone could invent a way to do real-time fact checking of what is said by the candidates as they say it, just run it in a scroll across the bottom of the screen. It is clear the infotainment personalities will allow candidates to spew nonsense and lies and will never challenge them with the facts. It is not the role of the media to provide a platform for candidates to spread nonsense and lies among the public, despite the success of this business model at FAUX News Fraudcasting and hate radio.

Everything you needed to know about these GOP Clown Car candidates was answered in the first question: they are true believers in faith based supply-side "trickle down" GOP economics and all of them proposed to double-down on this discredited and demonstrably failed economic theory. They want to transfer more wealth to the über-rich who will grace us with the scraps from their tables that "trickle down" to the rest of us.

There is no credible statistical data to support this failed economic theory, in fact, quite the opposite is true. Not that Diane Sawyer and "Snufalufagus" even once challenged the GOP Clown Car candidates' economic theory with the facts. The candidates answers to this first question alone disqualified each of them from any consideration for the presidency.

The corporate media villagers take their cues from the conservative Politico, so let's take a look at what Politico is saying about last night's debate. It's not about substance, but the optics:

The 'big story" is Willard "Mittens" Romney's sucker bet with Governor Goodhair Rick Perry which demonstrated just how out of touch with real Americans Richie Rich is. Republican debate in Iowa: Mitt Romney gambles with $10k bet – POLITICO.com:

If Mitt Romney had said $10 or a $1 million, the line might have flown right by, but offering Rick Perry a $10,000 bet on stage at Saturday night’s debate gave his opponents a perfect new way to cast him as an out-of-touch rich guy.

Michele Bachmann scored points on her quest to "repeal Obamacare" by combining Newt Gingrich and Mittens Romney into "Newt Romney" for their support of the individual mandate. Republican debate in Iowa: Bachmann elbows back into frame – POLITICO.com:

Michele Bachmann led the charge against the co-frontrunners she termed “Newt Romney” at Saturday night’s debate, elbowing her way into the spotlight and forcing her rivals to engage with her.

* * *

“If you look at Newt-Romney, they were for ObamaCare principles,” she said. “If you look at Newt-Romney, they were for cap and trade.”

Whatever points the Minnesota Loon scored with this clever line of attack she gave back by frequently referencing Herman Cain, who left the race last week over scandal, and his Sim City "9-9-9" tax plan for its simplicity. "I am going with my 'win-win-win plan,'" whatever that bumper sticker slogan is supposed to mean.

Mittens Romney was given several opportunities to bloody Newt Gingrich by questions from Diane Sawyer and "Snufalufagus" specifically designed to encourage personal attacks on his opponent, and each time Mittens failed to throw a punch, instead invoking President Obama. Mittens demonstrated that he is not a fighter and prefers to use surrogates to do his fighting for him rather than confront his opponent face-to-face. That non-fighter weakness is not lost among GOP primary voters.

Newt, however, demonstrated that he is still a "mudslinger" street fighter by punching Mittens in the head with a line that "the only reason you didn't become a career politician is because you lost to Ted Kennedy in 1994." Oooohhh! Down goes Mittens!

So who does Politico say "won" this debate? Jonathan Martin says At Republican debate, Newt Gingrich rolls on with steady performance – POLITICO.com. And Roger Simon says Opinion: Newt Gingrich clears fences at debate! -POLITICO.com (Simon needlessly and unfairly demeans baseball legend Babe Ruth by using him as an analogy to Newt Gingrich, calling him "The Bambino." Babe Ruth would kick your ass for demeaning his name, Mr. Simon).

The corporate media villagers will follow the narrative from Politico, so it looks like a good week for insurgent Newt Gingrich. The GOP establishment is apoplectic.

Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman will face off tomorrow, December 12, in what Politico describes as a Lincoln-Douglas style debate. Sorry, these guys ain't no Lincoln or Douglas. Politico exaggerates. Jon Huntsman accepts Lincoln-Douglas style debate with Newt Gingrich – POLITICO.com.

Finally, "Survivor – GOP Presidential Primary" returns to FAUX News Fraudcasting, co-hosted by the Republican Party of Iowa on Thursday, December 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET, from the Sioux City Convention Center in Sioux City, Iowa. FAUX News special report anchor Bret Baier will moderate the debate.
