The local Tucson media is all upset that the Tea-Publicans are avoiding debates with their opponents, preferring instead the comfort zone of friendly Tea Parties where like-minded drones don't question their positions or beliefs. They won't speak to any other voters, or an inquisitive media.
The Tucson Weekly complained that the candidates in Legislative District 26 will not debates despite promises that there would be a debate. Upcoming Legislative Debates | Tucson Weekly.
For the second time in a week, the Arizona Daily Star bemoaned the lack of gubernatorial debates for the candidates to provide us with the details of their plans. Bland platitudes on education get a failing grade.
The Tea-Publicans' refusal to debate, or to even be questioned by the media, is disrespectful to the voters and to our democratic system of government.
It is actually part of a national media strategy by the Republican Party to keep their Tea-Publican candidates under wraps and away from the media and the public, and instead to pursue a Madison Avenue advertising campaign to soften their images to make them appear a lot less crazy and more palatable to voters. It is a stealth campaign to get these loons elected, and if elected, watch out! They will pursue a far-right fringe agenda that was never debated during the campaign for which they have no mandate and no voter approval.
The media does not have to play along with the Republican Party's stealth campaign. Instead of simply bemoaning the lack of debates, here's a novel idea: why doesn't the local media get together and sponsor a debate instead of always waiting for someone else to do it? Spend your own dime to reserve a debate venue and send invitations to the candidates in those races to debate. If only the Democratic candidate accepts, go forward with the "debate" to allow the candidate the opportunity to answer your questions about the details of his or her plans, instead of whining about the lack of details. The candidate(s) who do attend can debate the empty chair, or a cardboard cut-out, or a potted plant for that matter of the candidate(s) who decline to attend. That usually gets attendance. Quit being so passive and be more proactive. And quit your whining.
Please check with the Green Party before sending out your invitations. I spoke with representatives of the Green Party over the weekend and they assured me that Larry Gist is not a Green Party candidate nor is he endorsed by the party, he is a sham candidate for the Republican Party. The media should not aid and abet the Republican Party in perpetrating its voter fraud on the electorate with sham Green candidates.
NB: Why is it the New York Times does a better job of reporting on the Arizona Republican Party's voter fraud Green Scheme "Siphon Scandal" than the Arizona Daily Star? G.O.P. Recruits Street People to Run on Green Ticket in Arizona – NYTimes.com. Could it be the newspaper's love affair with the corporate-sponsored Tea Party? Or is advertising revenue from Jim Click determining news content?

A friend of mine suggested that I should use a “headless” chicken in reference to Jan Brewer. That is some seriously dark humor. If you want to be freaked out, check out this video about Mike the Headless Chicken – for real! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATz3AdbjyRI
The strategy is widespread. Note that in the first 10 days after the primary, John Huppenthal was a cancellation or a no-show at 4 events scheduled jointly with Penny Kotterman, and he has since said, “no debates.” Running, or running scared.
