This was the scene at Gallego for Senate headquarters last night following his declared victory over Kari Lake.
A close to two year campaign of convincing voters from all political persuasions across the Grand Canyon state has paid off.
Ruben Gallego will become the first Latino Senator in Arizona History.
In comments to supporters following his declared victory, Senator-Elect Gallego said, “Being here was something that was literally a dream…This is the greatest country in the world and the only way I can be here is because of this great country…”
He thanked his mother for helping “Give him a shot at the American Dream. And only in America can four children raised by an immigrant, single mom, grow up to become a teacher, a doctor, a businesswoman, and a soon to be Senator.”
On his joining the Marines at age 20, Gallego again invoked the American Dream, saying “I was lucky to enlist in the United States Marine Corp because I wanted to serve the greatest country in the world and return the favor it had given me.”
In his closing remarks, the Senate-Elect said, “I believe that every kid should have a chance at the American Dream and we have talked about that all across Arizona…What I have learned from every part of the state from Democrats, Republicans, and Independents is we all just want a better life for ourselves and the ability to give our kids the best possible future that they could have. So that’s exactly what I am going to fight for in the Senate and I’ll work with anyone to get the job done for our families and for Arizona.”
Senator-Elect Gallego pledged to work on:
- Fixing the broken immigration system and security.
- Lower costs on everything including gas, groceries, and rent.
- Helping veterans.
In his last comment, Mr. Gallego said, “To the veterans out there who suffer from PTSD. To the single moms working two jobs and raising their three kids. To the dads who have to miss bedtime because they want to work that extra shift. And for the kids sleeping on the floor dreaming about a better America and a better, better future, this victory is for you. Thank you, Arizona.”
Moving forward, expect the calls for Senator-Elect Gallego to run for President in 2028 to grow.
With Arizona a Purple Swing State and Latinos a major demographic group that could decide elections in the battleground states, expect Gallego to at least be any Democratic Presidential Nominee’s Vice Presidential Nominee short list should he not get the nomination himself.
His resume is already better than Barack Obama’s when he ran for President in 2008 and now Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance’s.
His message on living the American Dream and wanting others to have it coupled with charisma are also inspiring.
Expect the Gallego 2028 calls to begin early next year.
