The Arizona Daily Star is just like the Faux News Fraudcasting Network

Tea Party Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Nevada, Sharron Angle, is so comfortable with softball questions in the protective cocoon of the conservative media bubble that when she appears on the Faux News Fraudcasting Network she believes that she is speaking just to like-minded individuals and that no one else is watching.

Angle unwittingly exposed the too-cozy relationship between Faux News and Republicans in this devastating disclosure to reporter Carl Cameron (at 2:35 mark). Angle tells Cameron that she should be asked prearranged questions that she submits in advance so that she can get in her talking points and, oh by the way, she should also be able to do fund raising appeals for her campaign when she appears on Faux News. (You mean that Republicans are not already doing this on Faux News?):

The editors of the Arizona Daily Star are just like the Faux News Fraudcasting Network. On Sunday, the Daily Star finally got around to interviewing candidates for the primary election. The editors chose only two questions to ask all candidates:

The Star’s editorial board invited primary candidates in contested races to lay out their views on specific issues. The candidates’ comments are edited only to meet style rules. The series runs through Aug. 13; the vote is Aug. 24.

Question one

How will you know when the border is secure? Please list benchmarks.

Question two

What specific changes must be made to keep Social Security solvent?

These are not just softball questions based upon the GOP talking points for this election. This is putting a beach ball on a T-ball stand to let Republicans swing away on their GOP talking points.

And swing away they did with misinformation, disinformation, and fear mongering. The editors of the Daily Star gave Republicans the opportunity to poison public discourse with Faux News-style propaganda with no fact checking. It is a disservice to their readers and the voting public.

For added emphasis of the GOP talking points, the Daily Star also published on Sunday this op-ed by Michael Gerson, former speech writer for George W. Bush — you remember him, the man with the plan to privatize social security which just happens to be part of the GOP plan in 2010. Entitlement spending stymies true budget reform
