The ‘Foxification’ of the ‘news’ with manufactured outrage of the day

Tuesday was one of those days that, in a just world, there would have been a mass firing of everyone in the corporate media.

The "Foxification" of the "news" with manufactured outrage of the day, a technique perfected by FAUX News Fraudcasting, is an insidious disease that has infected the entire corporate "lamestream" media, who mindlessly parrot Faux News.

So what was the outrage of the day on Tuesday? Vice President Joe Biden said "chains" instead of "shackles." No, really. The media villagers might want to purchase a dictionary and a thesaurus.

Here is how our sad small town newspaper the Arizona Daily Star and its creative headline writer maximized this manufactured outrage with a report from AP (All Propaganda) reporter Matthew Daly (you bet I looked you up). Republicans want to 'put y'all back in chains,' says Biden. Check out Mr. Daly's lede:

Vice President Joe Biden sparked a campaign commotion Tuesday, telling an audience in southern Virginia that included hundreds of black voters that Republican Mitt Romney wanted to put them "back in chains" by deregulating Wall Street.

Do much work for the right-wing noise machine, Mr. Daly? Here is the context which explains Mr. Daly's outrageously inflammatory lede:

Campaigning in Danville, Biden said the Republican ticket wanted to "unchain Wall Street" by getting rid of regulations Obama signed into law two years ago. He added: "They're going to put y'all back in chains."

So Mr. Daly takes the fact that the audience includes hundreds of African-American voters whom we can assume (a) are Democrats who support the Obama-Biden campaign, and (b) are intelligent voters who understand the context that Joe Biden is talking about servitude to the corporatocracy and the banksters of Wall Street. Only this hack reporter Matthew Daly injects a racial connotation into the remarks which make no sense in context.

Of course, this hack reporting by Mr. Daly of Vice President Biden's comment was all the "Galt- Gekko 2012" campaign and the mighty Wurlitzer of the right-wing noise machine needed to manufacture the outrage of the day on Tuesday.

Willard "Mittens" Romney got his magic underwear all in a bunch criticizing Joe Biden, "saying the remarks were part of pattern of 'reckless' comments by Obama's campaign and his surrogates 'that disgrace the office of the presidency.'"

Romney later called Biden's comment "another outrageous charge" and added: "The White House sinks a little bit lower. This is what an angry and desperate presidency looks like."

"I do declare I am about to have the vapors! Jeeves, bring me my smelling salts."

The Obama campaign was having none of this "Foxification" manufactured outrage. Obama for America Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter released the following statement on Vice President Biden’s comments in Danville, Virginia:  

“For months, Speaker Boehner, Congressman Ryan, and other Republicans have called for the ‘unshackling’ of the private sector from regulations that protect Americans from risky financial deals and other reckless behavior that crashed our economy. Since then, the Vice President has often used a similar metaphor to describe the need to ‘unshackle’ the middle class. Today’s comments were a derivative of those remarks, describing the devastating impact letting Wall Street write its own rules again would have on middle class families. We find the Romney campaign’s outrage over the Vice President’s comments today hypocritical, particularly in light of their own candidate’s stump speech questioning the President’s patriotism. Now, let’s return to that ‘substantive’ debate Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan promised 72 hours ago, but quickly abandoned.”

And Vice President Joe Biden responded to the manufactured outrage boys and girls at FAUX News Nation as well:

"We don't have to imagine anymore. The details are there. Here's what Congressman Ryan said. He said, 'We believe a renewed commitment to limited government will unshackle our economy.' The Speaker of the House said, used the word 'unshackled' as well, referring to their proposals. The last time these guys unshackled the economy, to use their term, they put the middle class in shackles. That's how we got where we are.

Nine million jobs lost. Wage stagnation. 16 trillion dollars in wealth you all lost in your home equity, in your 401Ks and your pension plans. You're the ones that got nailed. All of America, except the very few.

And I'm told that when I made that comment earlier today in Danville, Virginia, the Romney campaign put out a tweet. You know, tweets these days? Put out a tweet, went on the airwaves saying, 'Biden, he's outrageous in saying that,' I think I said instead of 'unshackled,' 'unchained.' 'Outrageous to say that.' That's what we had. I'm using their own words. I got a message for them. If you want to know what's outrageous, it's their policies and the effects of their policies on middle class America. That's what's outrageous.

I think it's outrageous to continue to give companies tax breaks to outsource rather than tax breaks to in-source. To make massive cuts in education, massive cuts in college aid, massive cuts in Medicaid, throwing 19 million people off — who desperately need healthcare — off of Medicare, including 1 million seniors. How many of you know somebody in a home right now who is getting extended care. Eight will get you 10, they're there because they have Medicaid. What happens when they do this? That's outrageous. You want to know what's outrageous. Massive changes. Massive cuts to Social Security for future generations. That's the hard proposal."

UPDATE: Washington Post political reporter Dan Balz clutches his pearls and writes this unintentionally hilarious piece today, No one expected the campaign to be positive and uplifting. But this?:

But what is most striking about the campaign at this point is not just the negativity or the sheer volume of attack ads raining down on voters in the swing states. It is the sense that all restraints are gone, the guardrails have disappeared and there is no incentive for anyone to hold back. The other guy does it, so we’re going to do it too.

This D.C. media villager "bubble boy" needs to turn on FAUX News or listen to Conservative hate radio. That ship sailed a long time ago.
