Recognizing that affordable housing is a major issue for many Arizonans, the Harris/Walz Campaign has released a new ad to convince many Grand Canyon state residents that theirs is the team that will tackle the issue.
Below is the script for the ad called “Stressful.”
PERSON 1: It has just become so hard to find an affordable place to stay.
PERSON 2: I would say the investors have kind of gobbled up the market.
PERSON 3: The banks and Wall Street are driving up housing costs.
NARRATOR: As Attorney General, Kamala Harris fought to protect homeowners.
PERSON 4: And she’s making housing affordability one of her top priorities.
PERSON 1: Kamala’s plan will stop the crazy rent increases.
PERSON 5: And she’ll take on corporations causing home prices to spike.
PERSON 6: She understands what Americans are going through because she’s worked her way up, just like the rest of us.
KAMALA HARRIS: I’m Kamala Harris and I approve this message.
According to a Harris/Walz Press Release, “The ad will air on local broadcast and cable programming like Survivor, Say Yes to the Dress, and 100 Day Dream Home, as well as networks like the Hallmark Channel – home to programming like The Wedding Cottage and The Christmas Cottage.”
The press release continued with:
“Vice President Harris was raised in a middle-class home, by a working mother who saved up for more than 10 years to finally buy a home. She will make building up the middle class a defining goal of her presidency and knows that a home is more than a house—it represents financial security and an opportunity to build intergenerational wealth. She’s fighting for a new way forward with a comprehensive plan to end America’s housing shortage and lower housing costs for working families. She will help spur the construction of 3 million new housing units by the end of her first term as President, hold corporate landlords accountable for price gouging, create tax incentives for starter home construction, and provide a $25,000 down payment for first-time home buyers.”
“While Vice President Harris will never stop fighting to lower costs for families, Donald Trump’s plans would drive up housing costs for Arizonans. He has a long history of exploiting tenants as a landlord, upholding racist housing practices, and giving handouts to wealthy real estate developers while jacking up rent for working- and middle-class Americans. In the second term, Donald Trump would let his Wall Street friends rip off renters and raise mortgage costs by an average of $ 1,200 per year.”
