The People Have Spoken, the Bastards

I quote a famous Arizonan, the notorious Dick Tuck. Today, I haven’t much else to say.

America had a choice: move forward and build on the greatest economic recovery from the pandemic crisis in the world, protect the lives and dignity of American women, protect our immigrant friends, neighbors and co-workers from persecution, and preserve our democracy from a wannabe tyrant; or to go back to TFG who put us into the shit with an utterly incompetent response to the COVID crisis, continue to kill American women with tragically punitive laws born of blind religious zealotry, pursue a self-destructive policy of ethnic cleansing, and to embrace a lawless dictator. They chose. The utter bastards.

I am too despondent to try to parse for you – or myself – the how and why. I going to sit here and mourn and try not to think about just how utterly terrible and tragic – and deeply fucking stupid – the next four years are going to be.

All I know for certain is that SCOTUS has ensured that Trump will be utterly unconstrained and unaccountable for all the crime and harm he’s about to do this nation.

I hope to hell that I’m just as wrong in my deep concern about our nation’s future as I was about the result of this election. Maybe everything is going to be ‘great again’? Wouldn’t that be nice? Turns out more of us imagine it will be. The bastards had better be right.

  1. After deporting most of the agricultural workforce, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama, probably other states, too, will declare a food emergency, or more likely, just sneak it through, and start (continue, actually) using prison inmates to pick crops.

And that my fellow countrymen, is how the Republicans will bring back (continue, actually) slavery.

America’s orignal sin. The opposite of the FREEDOM they cack on about.

Watch the “crime rates” suddenly go up in minority neighborhoods, necessitating a harsh crackdown and brutal sentencing for even minor crimes, if a crime will even be needed.

    Because FOOD EMERGENCY!

Sounds alarmist unless you already know that prisoners pick crops in America already.

Do a web search on “prison slave labor harvesting crops in America”.

And convicted rapist and felon Don-old Jurassic Trump won because Biden allowed COVID era relief to end for millions of Americans, making them literally worse off than they were a year or two ago.

Slavery, not so much coming back as expanding.

    Bet me.

    • Or we could admit law abiding and vetted immigrants on the waiting list to come here. After all, given a choice between law breakers and decent people, why not admit good people. Of course, that assumes we have a labor shortage.

  2. These famous saying are extremely important today as they were years ago. So, let’s not panic but hope for the best but plan for the worst.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
    Franklin Roosevelt March of 1933.

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end.
But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”
    Churchill Nov. 1942

Benjamin Franklin, “What do we have, a republic or a monarchy?”
“A republic, if you can keep it.”
    Sep. 1787.

“We have met the enemy and he is us”

      • Our economy is the envy of the world and, by any statistical measure, is hotter than any time during the prior administration.
People see the inflation and it is hard to get past that. Forget the stimulus. Forget your wages have outpaced inflation. Forget the soft landing that everyone said was impossible. Forget all the new jobs.
        John, “It’s the eggs, stupid”

          • Former President Donald Trump said immigrants coming to the U.S. are “poisoning the blood of our country,”
“We’re like a garbage can for the rest of the world to dump the people that they don’t want,” Trump told supporters in Austin.
Well, let’s take a look at what the garbage can looks like.
•The President in 1885 didn’t stop Trumps’ Grandparents Elizabeth Christ and Friedrich Trump from coming to America from Germany.
            • Mary Anne MacLeod (Trumps’ Mother) was born in Tong, a small village near Stornoway, in the Western Isles of Scotland.
            • Ivana Marie Zelníčková (Trump) from the CZ Republic where she lived in Canada before relocating to the United States and marrying Donald Trump in 1977.
            • Melansa Kravs (Melania Trump) of Sevnica, Yugoslavia.
I think Trump was right all along we shouldn’t let all the scum come into our Country.

          • Oooooch! Sick burn! Eggy-face! No coming back from that one.

Remember kids, lil Johnny KKK is the troll who whines about how he’s treated here.

Turns out, KKKavanagh doesn’t know what “egg on your face” means, based on this reply.

What did Eric Kurland say that was embarassing to him?

Oh noes! John is actually the one with egg on his face!

Plot twist! No, wait, a plot twist is unexpected. Everyone expects lameness from ol’ Johnny KKK.

        • Too bad the voters did not realize that at the grocery store or gas station. Keep your head in the sand.

      • In the next four years, based on his promises, the convicted felon and rapist Don-old Jurassic Trump may actually make 2020 look good in comparison!

Hooray for 2020! You will no longer be our worst recent year!

And I see Project 2025 is back, after John Who Eats at the Government Trough Kavanagh said it wasn’t a thing.

Odd. Was KKKavanagh lying? No way!

I hope Don-old’s promised cuts don’t stop those sweet government checks you get every month, John.

I’d hate to see you in a soup line downtown, or worse, forced to get a PRIVATE SECTOR JOB!

        Oh noes!

Hey, let’s all agree to meet back here in four years and see how it’s all going?

        • @Sharpie –

Your observation about 2020 and how a future Cheeto presidency may may it look good brought to mind another comparison. The adherents/supporters of Baby Bush were probably happy to see Cheeto come along because their guy was no longer considered to be the worst-ever POTUS.

          It’s not even close.

      • FYI – Progressive policies passed even in states that voted for the convicted felon and rapist.

The takeaway would seem to be that people like progressive policies but not Joe Biden.

Your team of paid billionaire shills did a good job of pairing Harris with Biden.

But you seem to have missed the message of the bigger picture. 🙂

So, just another typical day for Kavanagh the Government Supported Hypocrite.

  3. It is your condescending attitude about the voters, shared by many high-profile Democrats, that helped Trump win. Keep it up.

    • LOL! Those voters are about to be reminded that Republicans can’t govern for sh1+.

Miss 2020? Well, it’s going to be 2020 on steroids in two or three years. Maybe less.

Deport millions of people, leave a few million apartments and houses empty, seems like that would be bad for the value of my home.

Housing is too expensive anyway, so that’s partly good, but a lot of Trump voters have all their retirement tied up in their home’s equity.

      Oopsies!

Deport the people who pick and pack your food? Seems like the prices at the grocery store are going to go up, while the produce aisle goes empty. We saw this happen last time Orange Jesus was in office. Remember? Even Alabama was regretting his policies.

      Fruit, rotting on the trees.

Put 100%, 200%, or more, tariffs on imports? Seems like those voters are about to be paying more for pretty much everything.

Because tariff’s are taxes AMERICANS pay.

Hey, fun fact, last time Don-old put tariff’s on China they just moved manufacturing to Viet Nam. Have fun playing whack a mole!

Every economist, including conservatives, have said convicted felon and rapist Don-old Jurassic Trump’s stated policies are immensely INFLATIONARY, and the fed is signaling they know this are are now going to be hiking interest rates instead of lowering them.

This will all happen because even though it’s all populist-stupid and will result in self inflicted wounds for Americans, Don-old, the convicted FELON and RAPIST you just elected (role model for your grandkids!), is too self centered and dumb to back down.

Even if it hurts his cult. But sure, he and you (both proven liars) will blame Biden. Or China. Or brown people and gays.

Hey John, FYI, what your party actually just did was give the country to Silicon Valley. Learn about gay vampire Peter Thiel, look him up, he’s the guy sponsoring JD Vance.

      Creepy AF.

Elon paid 44 billion to buy a website, LOL, and it’s now worth 10b? Maybe? Sure, put him in charge of the budget.

Hey, he lives off government subsidies just like you! We bailed out Tesla and pay for his rockets.

Oh, you think Hollywood is bad? They’re nothing compared to the America Silicon Valley is hatching, and Silicon Valley pretty much owns Hollywood.

      Your two favorite things!

      Hope I’m wrong.

But I’m not, and boy are you going to look stupid(er) in a few short years.

Oh, boy-oh-boy, are you in for a rude awakening. Too bad millions of people will have to suffer for you and your very smart voters to RELEARN the same old lessons.

R’s can’t govern. And electing criminals never turns out well.

Last word goes to Dems – Hey, the Powell memo was in the 70’s, the Koch’s started their shit in the 80’s, start playing the long game, and next time you have the conn, enforce anti-trust laws, kill off the filibuster, pack the f’n courts, statehood for DC and PR if they want it, and stop KISSING CORPORATE ASS (f’ the Clinton’s for that).

Stop thinking that R’s are trustworthy people who care about American ideals. They have no morals, no shame, and they are filled with hate. The f’n end.

Trump won this one, it’s our 2012 GOP Autopsy moment.

Maybe blame Jill Stein, or Bernie, or say that smell came from the dog, blame anyone but yourselves.

  4. Recall the quote, “Democracy is a terrible system, but all the others are worse.” I tend to focus on the second phrase, but at the moment I’m thinking about the first one – sometimes the people vote for something terrible. They did that this time (with the caveat that we don’t know the popular vote yet, so “people voting” might need to be modified to include the antidemocratic Electoral College).

  5. Thank you, Mike. I haven’t even looked at the results for AZ that last night looked like we might actually look pretty good compared to states like OHIO. I don’t have the gumption to check out the results for LD 17, LD 16, etc.

My only thought is that the guy will not actually be sworn in until January 20. What can happen before then. If people roll over and actually blame Democrats for running a losing campaign, that is so dangerous. I received a text from a friend with this thought. He will hear from me later.

In the meantime I met so many great people volunteering on this round. Saturday and Sunday i was in LD 17 canvassing with two women from Seattle. Yesterday I was at Liggins Center passing out LD 20 Dem voter Guides. I spent a few hours talking with a woman who came from California to help with our election. She was the Dem Poll Observer. They gave me hope.

I just got a call from a guy wanting to inspect my roof. The only thing I could think of was, “Who did he vote for?”

  6. I am in mourning and utterly despondent today. I can’t believe she lost with the many republicans independents and democrats voting for her.
Was there tampering? Who knows but we lost Democracy today.
It’s gone and may never return,
