And Traitor “Kevvy” is promising the Sedition Caucus to remove his fellow Californians, Trump impeachment managers Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), from their House Intelligence Committee assignments, and is throwing one (so far) of the two Muslim women in Congress, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) – the other is Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) – to the White Christian Nationalists in his party for her alleged anti-Semitism and the purification of the White Christian race in America.
Hey “Kevvy,” here is the real problem with anti-Semitism in America – White Christian Nationalist Evangelical Christians who only care about Jews and Israel in so far as it is part of their end-times apocalyptic “Rapture” theology, or Christian Zionism. Let’s just say that it does not turn out well for the Jews who do not convert to their version of Christianity when Jesus returns.
So we wind up with crazy shit like this: Donald Trump Scolds Jews, Praises Evangelicals In Geopolitical Swipe:
Former President Donald Trump told a conservative Jewish group that evangelical Christians are loyal to Israel and the Jews, but accused American Jews of failing to back the Jewish state.
“Some people in the United States — Jewish people — don’t appreciate Israel the way they should,” Trump said via video Saturday at the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas. “I’ll tell you who does appreciate Israel very much are the evangelicals, because evangelicals are on your side. The evangelical Christians, they’re really on your side. ”
Trump, who last week announced his candidacy for 2024, bragged about his record.
“But I appreciate Israel, and it’s an honor to have, I think, done far more for Israel than any other president,” he said. “I don’t think any other president comes close.”The ex-president previously bemoaned the perceived lack of Jewish American appreciation for his accomplishments and boasted that he could be elected prime minister of Israel. He also has said that Jews who vote for Democrats are disloyal and has repeated his praise for evangelicals’ commitment to Israel while questioning Jewish Americans.
But I digress. Traitor Kevin McCarthy, Trump’s lap dog, is making these promises of retaliation to the Sedition Caucus because he does not currently have enough votes to be elected Speaker of the House. From Fox News no less, 3 House Republicans say they won’t support McCarthy for speaker:
Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy may have his party’s nomination to be the next speaker of the House, but that does not mean he has enough votes to win the job.
A handful of conservatives in the House of Representatives have announced that they will not vote for McCarthy to be speaker in January, when the 118th Congress will begin its first session. With only six House races left uncalled, Republicans are looking at a slim majority that would make McCarthy vulnerable to losing the speaker election if he fails to win every vote from the Republican conference.
The GOP currently holds 218 seats – the minimum to claim a majority of the House and the number of votes needed to become House speaker. They are projected to hold anywhere from 220 to 224, meaning McCarthy can’t afford to lose more than two to six votes in his conference in the speaker’s race.
In the nomination vote this week, McCarthy fell more than 30 votes shy of his 218 target to become speaker.
As it stands, there are three Republican members who have publicly stated that they will not support McCarthy: Reps. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and Matt Rosendale, R-Mont. (members of the Sedition Caucus).
Biggs, who unsuccessfully challenged McCarthy for the speaker nomination this week, laid out his reasons for opposing McCarthy in an op-ed for American Greatness.
“The Republicans in Congress have decided it’s better to cling to the status quo than to make change,” Biggs wrote Thursday. “I was told in 2020 that we were in the minority and shouldn’t make changes to our leadership. This year, I was told we would have a ‘red wave’ gaining 25 seats or more, so we wouldn’t want to change our leader, that our leaders earned the right to lead again.
“Now I am told that we will barely have a three-seat majority, so we must not change leaders in order to protect unity,” he continued. “I disagree.”
His op-ed was shared by Gaetz, who claimed that McCarthy is “threatening and pressuring incoming freshmen House members to vote for him” and said, “We have the votes to force a change.”
Rosendale separately wrote on Twitter that he believes a leadership change is necessary to reduce the power of the speaker and open up the legislative process so backbenchers can have more of a say.
“Each Member of Congress has earned and deserves equal participation in the legislative process. That will only happen if the House returns to the rules that governed this legislative body before Nancy Pelosi took control. Kevin McCarthy isn’t willing to make those changes,” Rosendale tweeted Wednesday.
I have no idea what this fool is talking about. There has always been leadership positions and a committee seniority system in the House. “Backbenchers” are not co-equal to the Speaker of the House, this is a recipe for chaos.
“He wants to maintain the status quo, which consolidates power into his hands and a small group of individuals he personally selects. We need a leader who can stand up to a Democrat-controlled Senate and President Biden, and unfortunately, that isn’t Kevin McCarthy,” he added.
The hardline conservatives [Sedition Caucus] in the House believe they have an upper hand with McCarthy and can leverage their votes for speaker to draw out concessions and promises from him.
Rules changes to House procedure are the most consistent demands from the GQP Freedom (sic) Caucus – more accurately the GQP Fascist Caucus – members. Several lawmakers who spoke to Fox News said they want a return to “regular order” in the House, which would require every single piece of major legislation to be debated and voted in committee before heading to the House floor.
[T]hey also want a rule that would require all legislation to be made available to read for more than 72 hours before a vote; a ban on tying unrelated bills together and passed en bloc; more representation on top House committees, including the important House Rules Committee; and a dramatic rules change that would end the House speaker’s ability to appoint the committee chairman and instead allow a panel’s individual members to vote on that position.
So they want to overturn the seniority system, devaluing experience and demonstrated competence for whomever can get on Fox News and get the GQP crazy base riled up the most.
There’s little chance that House leadership would agree to these changes under normal circumstances, but the conservatives are emboldened by the slim GOP majority and believe that now is the time to force change.
As I was saying at the top of the post, Rep. Kevin McCarthy Says These Noteworthy House Democrats Won’t Be On Committees:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said he’ll keep his word and won’t allow three Democrats on House committees if he serves as speaker next year.
McCarthy told Fox News anchor [and Trump Fluffer] Maria Bartiromo on Sunday that Rep. Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Rep. Eric Swalwell (Calif.) and Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.) would be stripped of their committee posts if he becomes House speaker in January.
McCarthy’s comments come less than a week after House Republicans nominated him as speaker in a closed-door session as the party — despite the lack of a “red wave” in the midterm elections — is set to hold a majority of the seats in the House of Representatives during the next Congress.
Earlier this year, McCarthy called for the removal of the three Democrats from committees in a promise that Swalwell said was “purely for retaliation purposes” following House votes to remove Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) from committees in recent years.
Rep. Marjorie “Q” Greene (R-Ga.) and Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) were removed from their committees “for cause” by a vote of the full House. House votes to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from committee assignments (The vote tally was 230-199 with 11 Republican House members voting with Democrats to remove Greene from her committee assignments); House votes to censure and remove Gosar from committees over violent video targeting AOC and Biden (The final vote was 223 to 207. Republicans Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and Liz Cheney of Wyoming voted with all the Democrats for the censure resolution. Republican Rep. David Joyce of Ohio voted present.)
The California Republican said on Sunday that he’ll deliver on his promise before criticizing the group of Democrats.
“Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector. Why would we ever give him a security clearance in the secrets to America? So I will not allow him to be on intel,” said McCarthy, appearing to refer to a report connecting the California Democrat to a Chinese intelligence operative. Swalwell has not been accused of any wrongdoing [outside of right-wing media.]
“You have Adam Schiff who had lied to the American public time and again. We will not allow him to be on the intel committee either. And you look at Congresswoman Omar, her antisemitic comments that have gone forward, we’re not going to allow her to be on foreign affairs,” McCarthy said.
McCarthy has said that Schiff, as chair of the Intelligence Committee, has politicized the panel and used his position to lie.
I believe that Traitor “Kevvy” has Adam Schiff confused with his predecessor, Republican House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin “Midnight Run” Nunez who tried to undermine the Trump-Russia investigation, his former congressional staffer Kashyap Pramod “Kash” Patel was a Coup Plotter in the January 6 insurrection and has had a prominent role in Trump’s theft of highly classified documents, and Nunez himself left Congress for the more lucrative career of running Trump’s Orwellian Truth Social website.
His comments about Omar appear to be related to the Minnesota lawmaker’s criticism of Israel. (See my response above).
Omar addressed McCarthy’s vow in a statement Monday and said he hasn’t addressed his party’s “open hostility towards religious minorities.”
“McCarthy’s effort to repeatedly single me out for scorn and hatred — including threatening to strip me from my committee — does nothing to address the issues our constituents deal with,” Omar wrote.
“What it does is gin up fear and hate against Somali-Americans and anyone who shares my identity, and further divide us along racial and ethnic lines.”
McCarthy’s vow to take Democrats off committees comes roughly a month after he reportedly told [insurrectionists] Greene and Gosar that they’d have better assignments on committees following their previous removals.
Traitor Kevin McCarthy should NEVER be Speaker of the House, and a substantial number of his Republican House members agree.
