While at a campaign rally in Mesa, Arizona for “Big Lie” election deniers “Krazi Kari” Lake and Blake Masters, Coup Plotter former President Donald Trump effectively admitted to his own criminal behavior by stealing government documents and spiriting them off to his home in exile at Mar-a-Lago. ‘This is what we call a summation exhibit’: Legal experts say Trump admitted guilt in Arizona rally:
“I had a small number of boxes in storage,” Trump told the audience.
This is what he calls “a small number of boxes” – only one photo of the pallets of government documents he stole and had shipped to Mar-a-Lago (h/t Boomberg News, Trump Says US Agency Packed Top-Secret Documents. These Emails Suggest Otherwise.)
“There is no crime. They should give me immediately back everything they have taken from me because it’s mine.”
In fact, it is a crime, which is why the Justice Department, the FBI, a federal judge and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals have gotten involved in the issue.
Watching the video of Trump, legal experts noted that Trump’s comments are an admission of guilt that will likely be used in trial.
“This is what we call a summation exhibit,” said former FBI general counsel Andrew Weissmann, who also served as a prosecutor under special counsel Robert Mueller’s team. “Proof from the defendant’s own mouth. And on video.”
“There is more than ample evidence to indict Trump for crimes listed in the FBI search warrant,” explained former special counsel Ryan Goodman. “The question will come down to aggravating factors for Garland DOJ to consider. Outrageous, open defiance of the law —like this — must surely rank high among those factors.”
Business Insider adds, Ex-federal prosecutor on Trump’s claims about Bush stashing away secret government files: ‘People say stuff like this when they’re guilty and scared’:
Joyce Vance, a former federal prosecutor, said that Donald Trump’s wild claims about classified documents during his rallies make him look guilty and scared.
Vance, now a law professor at the University of Alabama, weighed in on Trump’s speech at a GOP campaign rally in Nevada on Saturday. Trump baselessly claimed that the late former President George H.W. Bush kept secret government documents in a “bowling alley slash Chinese restaurant.”
“George H.W. Bush took millions of documents to a former bowling alley and a former Chinese restaurant where they combined them,” Trump said. “So they’re in a bowling alley slash Chinese restaurant.”
“By contrast, I had a small number of boxes and storage at Mar-a-Lago — very small, relatively — guarded by the great Secret Service, we love the Secret Service. And yet the FBI, with many people, raided my house,” he said.
Commenting on Trump’s claims, Vance tweeted: “In my experience as a prosecutor, people say stuff like this when they’re guilty & scared.”

During a rally in Arizona on Sunday, Trump made the same claim, saying that Bush “took millions and millions of documents to a former bowling alley pieced together with what was then an old and broken Chinese restaurant.”
“And it had a broken front door and broken windows. Other than that, it was quite secure,” Trump said, questioning why Bush was not being investigated and prosecuted. Bush died in Houston in 2018.
Trump’s claims about Bush sparked scorn from Bush’s son, Jeb Bush, who tweeted his response to Trump on Saturday.
“I am so confused,” Jeb Bush tweeted. “My dad enjoyed a good Chinese meal and enjoyed the challenge of 7 10 split. What the heck is up with you?”

“What the heck is up with” Trump? He is fucking nuts, but not as nuts as his MAGA/QAnon cult followers who show up for his performance politics rallies. They are truly insane.
The Trump insanity did not end with a fictitious Chinese restaurant & bowling ally. He was just getting started. Trump suggests FBI planted book on how to build a nuclear bomb in Mar-a-Lago documents:
During his Arizona rally, former President Donald Trump falsely accused Democrats of putting a “trigger warning” on the Constitution. He then went off on a rant against Democrats claiming they are the ones who destroy documents and “they plant documents,” he continued.
“They plant documents. Let’s see, is there a book on nuclear destruction or the building of nuclear weapon cheaply?” he said, sweating in the Arizona heat. “Let’s put that box — let’s put that in with Trump. Nah, they plant documents. They have a terrible reputation. Look at the kinda things — this is just the small part that I’ve read. And who would want to be with them? We’re safer in that Chinese restaurant.”
During the rally, Trump also falsely said that the documents “are mine.” In fact, every document created for government business by a government employee belongs to the government. Trump even went on to falsely characterize the documents as being “mine” under the Presidential Records Act. The exact opposite is the case, as the Presidential Records Act is why they do not belong to Trump.
Just remember that “Krazi Kari” Lake and Blake Masters are Trump sycophants and “Big Lie” election deniers who cavalierly lie as easily as their “Dear Leader.” You cannot in good conscience and in fidelity to the Constitution elect such people to office.
UPDATE: Fact checking the biggest liar the world has ever seen.
This is a dishonest claim. The truth: *the National Archives* sorted Bush docs for his library in a heavily secured facility (patrols, cameras, sensors) that happened to be a former alley/restaurant. As with Obama docs the Archives took to Chicago, Bush didn’t take them himself. https://t.co/1H0YsuRebu

And here's a 1993 WaPo article about NARA using a former alley to temporarily house Bush documents. No equivalence between "NARA takes docs to NARA facility that used to be something else" and "Trump takes docs to his home and won't give them back to NARA" https://t.co/Zh8it5iC3f pic.twitter.com/GVXDt9moPy

One more: a senior official at the Bush library said in February that, in the 1990s, NARA built a secure space to house classified documents within the larger warehouse that used to be an alley. https://t.co/7gngH8BK4J pic.twitter.com/9pep6BVMw3

Trump also said at the rally that Bill Clinton took millions of documents to a former car dealership.
This is false in the exact same way as the claims about Obama and Bush: *the National Archives* took the docs to the ex-dealership for temporary storage. https://t.co/Lkljzctxc1 pic.twitter.com/QpQF8lMG8r
