Two votes demonstrate the new GOP is same as the old GOP

So this happened this week —

Greg Sargent reported that on Wednesday, "Senate Republicans on the Senate Budget Committee cast a vote that underscores the genuine nature of the differences between Republicans and Democrats on taxes in a fresh way. They voted unanimously against an amendment — to the Dem budget — that would seek to close loopholes that enable profitable corporations to pay nothing in taxes." Why compromise with Republicans on taxes is impossible, in one vote. The good news is that the amendment passed the committee with all Dems voting for it, though its future in the Senate budget legislation is anything but assured.

On Friday, House GOP Unanimously Votes Down Minimum Wage Hike. "House Republicans unanimously voted down a measure Friday that would have raised the federal minimum wage, from its current $7.25 per hour to $10.10 by 2015. Six Democrats joined 227 Republicans in voting it down; 184 Democrats voted yes. The legislation was proposed as a last-minute amendment upon passage of
the SKILLS Act, which reauthorizes a jobs training program."

So corporations should pay no taxes, but we can't afford to improve the lives of the working poor by raising the minimum wage.

After months of soul-searching, the GOP discovered that it has no soul.
