Update: Tea-Publican Tyranny in Wisconsin

I didn't have a good video of the proceedings for the earlier post, but now I do.

After Democratic Rep. Gary Hebl finishes his debate time and yields the floor, there's a "flash vote" and the Republican majority passes the so-called "budget repair bill" (union busting bill). The vote was held open for only a few seconds, and most Democrats were not given the usual courtesy of time to push the button to vote from their desk. This was clearly a prearranged stunt. I have never seen this occur at any level of government.

Al Pacino's memorable line from "And Justice For All" immediately pops to mind: "You're out of order! You're out of order! The whole trial is out of order!"

The Speaker of the Assembly adjourns the Assembly and the authoritarian Tea-Publicans file out of the room to chants of "Shame! Shame! Shame!" from their Democratic colleagues whom they just disenfranchised of their right as duly elected Representatives to vote on the bill, and by extension, disenfranchised the voters of their districts whom they represent.

Rep. Hebl's closing remarks are a bitter irony to what occured immediately after.

This is how democracy dies. This is what tyranny looks like.
