What a Flake: Is this any way to treat your B-ball buddy Obama?

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

In several campaign ads, The Flake sharply criticizes Dr. Richard Carmona over a phone call — just one phone call — he received from President Obama encouraging him to run for U.S. Senate.

Extrapolating from this one phone call, The Flake insists that Carmona was "handpicked" by Obama and he will be a "rubber-stamp" for Obama's agenda. The Flake is clearly unfamiliar with Dr. Carmona's "maverick" record of public service in the past.

The Flake's ads are a lame attempt at guilt by association for voters suffering from "Obama Derangement Syndrome." Apparently for these voters, one is disqualified from office for simply having spoken to President Obama. Well, by this standard, The Flake has also disqualified himself — he is President Obama's B-ball buddy on the court. The horrors! The shame!

The Phoenix New Times reports, Jeff Flake, Republican Congressman Running for U.S. Senate, Playing Basketball with President Obama – Phoenix New Times:

As much as Congressman Jeff Flake and his supporters want voters to believe his Democratic opponent, Rich Carmona, is BFFs with President Barack Obama — Carmona hasn't shot hoops with the prez like Flake has.

Here's a photo of Flake and Obama sharing sweat on the court.

Oh Noes!

Flake's effort to play off of anti-Obama sentiment among staunch conservatives isn't working out well.

A poll released by Public Policy Polling shows Carmona leading Flake 45-43. Three weeks ago, the same pollsters reported that Flake was ahead by a single point.

The poll shows Carmona has a 52 to 37 advantage over Flake with Independents, and he's also lured about 14 percent of Republicans into his corner.

As for The Flake's lame attack line, Is this any way to treat your B-ball buddy Obama? Didn't your mamma raise you with better manners than this?

  1. Despite serving 12 years in Congress, Rep. Flake has an unremarkable record with few, if any, legislative accomplishments. He is an ideologue who has pandered to the conservative base of his congressional district.

And “the only thing we know …” about Dr. Carmona is a talking point? You are woefully uninformed. I suggest you get to know Dr. Carmona before demonstrating your ignorance here.

  2. Yeah, he did this with no help from Republicans.

Unemployment is still too high, income is still too low, and the recovery is still too slow – but the United States is faring considerably better than other developed nations against the threat of a renewed recession and remains “the brightest spot in the world economy,” according to the latest indicators tracked by the Financial Times and the Brookings Institution. Known as TIGER, or Tracking Indices for the Global Economic Recovery, the comprehensive data report compiled by the London-based business daily and the centrist Washington think tank provides a factual context for the U.S. presidential debate.

  3. Is that you, Mr. Flake? Maybe you have “forgotten” the track record…http://votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/28128/jeff-flake#about_kv

Unfunded wars that drove up the deficit you pretend to care about and hosts of other bad calls! He voted against women. veterans (except when men and women go to war)against education, the environment, and healthcare.

In the meantime, Dr. Carmona was conducting every aspect of his life in a way that all Americans could be proud of, working hard and serving his country many times over.

Bringing the President, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi into this commentary is just chicken****. Flake needs to own the last 12 years.
Not only that, but his list of major contributors shows the mine that is now forcing Bisbee residents from their homes.

Club for Growth? Really! Biggest Tea Party batshit crazy, anti American, PAC ever!

Club for Growth conducts its activities through its 527 Political Action Committee (deemed a “super PAC” by the Washington Post), and its 501(c)(4) Club for Growth Action committee. At the outset of the 2010 midterm election, Club for Growth indicated that it intended to take advantage of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision and raise unlimited funds from corporations and other deep-pocket donors.[6] The Club accomplishes its mission by raising money through its political action committee and donating it to candidates that adhere to this vision. It also solidifies its clout through independent expenditures through a separate 527 committee. The Club’s PAC also acts as a conduit for federal candidates by accepting and transmitting earmarked contributions from the club’s many members to federal candidates.
Despite being allowed to raise unlimited funds, Club for Growth’s 501(c)(4) wing is not required to disclose its donors. Club for Growth’s PAC, Club for Growth Action, is supported by ultra-rich Right-wing donors like Peter Thiel (their largest Donor), [7] levereage-buyout specialist John Childs and New Jersey Investor Viriginia James, who have both given the Club $1 million dollars. [8]
The group supports far-right Republican candidates, spending money to not only oppose Democrats, but also moderate Republicans they term “RINOs” (an acronym for Republican In Name Only). Some within the Republican party dislike the Club;[9] Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas Governor and Republican Presidential Candidate (and current FOX News host), says the group should be called the “Club for Greed.”[10]

I guess he’s just hoping the people of Arizona are stupid enough not to know this! Flake is a joke and bad for Arizona. Next!

  4. The one thing that is for sure is Congressman Flake has a track record that demonstrates his ability to support and introduce legislation. He has taken tough stands regarding issues and has fought battles few would have undertaken. Mr. Carmona has yet to demonstrate the same ability to indicate what he is willing to do as a United States Senator. The only thing we know is that he was recruited by the President Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and DWS. And as such, will undoutedly return their support. We can’t support a candidate who offers no substantive ideas or policies that would help lead the country at such a crucial juncture.

  5. Flake is a poser who is clearly envious of Carmona’s real accomplishments. Well, too bad, Flake could have been a real public servant instead of right wing stooge. He made his choice.
