Must be nice to be a MAGA House Republican not having a worry in the world and being able to stay home for another week getting paid while many of their constituents are about to see their health insurance rates spike up and members of the military, who are charged with protecting these same Congressmen, have go on food lines because Mr. Trump, in trying to blame Democrats for the shutdown his party created, is refusing to pay them.
This is insane and made harder by the fact that Mr. Trump and his Project 2025 apostates like Russell Vought, moved by cruelty and a desire to pay for tax cuts for the rich by stopping programs for the down and out, have severed funding and deliveries to food banks across the country.
So far, Republican leadership and Trump would rather pay the blame game rather than hold votes on a standalone bill to pay for the troops in the hopes that the polls showing the people holding them responsible for the shutdown they created would shift to the Democrats.
They would also rather send $20 billion to Argentina so they can sell soybeans to China at the expense of American farmers rather than help Americans get affordable health care and groceries.
So much for America First.
Is this what swing voters, who ignored the first term track record, the criminal and impeachable acts, and did not read Project 2025, thought they would get with Trump II?
Reacting to some of the nation’s bravest having to go on food lines to feed their families, California Gavin Newsom posted:
“TRUMP’S SHUTDOWN HAS FORCED OUR HEROIC MILITARY FAMILIES INTO BREAD LINES! This is what happens when chaos runs the country. Disgraceful!”
Blasting House Republicans for taking another week off with pay while not doing anything to help the people they swore to serve, Oversight Committee House Democrats including Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett, Arizona Representative Yassamin Ansari, Washington Representative Emily Randall, and Virginia Representative James Walkinshaw, released a social media video, telling the American People they are there in the halls of Congress ready to negotiate if only they had another party to deal with.
Below are the Representatives comments:
Representative Walkinshaw:
“Oversight Democrats are here in the capital, ready to negotiate an agreement to reopen the government…But Republicans aren’t here. They’re on vacation. They’re on the golf course. They’re at fundraisers. I don’t know where they are.”
Representative Crockett
“So, explain to me why the people in power have decided that they are just too good to show up. There is work that we can do in a shutdown. We can do everything that we can to open this place back up…And Democrats, we are not backing down because we know that we stand on the right side of History.”
Representative Ansari:
“I’m here fighting for healthcare for my constituents, we are here fighting tirelessly to protect Healthcare for Americans and to make sure we reopen the government so that it works for everyone.”
Representative Randall:
“This shutdown was avoidable, and we’re here at the table, ready for Republicans to come and work with us to end it.”
All the Representatives touched on what the current situation is.
The shutdown was avoidable.
The government needs to be reopened for everyone so they can get affordable health care and our nation’s bravest should not have to go on food lines.
Where are the Republicans? Why are they not working on a solution to the shutdown they created?
Democrats are on the right side of history.
