Workers Who Voted for Trump May Be About to Get the Hosing of A Lifetime

One of the mysteries of the 2024 Presidential election is the gains Donald Trump made with working-class voters among most demographic groups.

On the campaign trail, people voiced their support for Trump because things were cheaper when he was president before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

They forget that his mismanagement of the pandemic helped kill thousands of people and tanked the economy.

They also credit him for sending relief checks to them during the coronavirus because he had the ego trip (and let us face it, the political instinct), to make sure the checks had his name on them.

They forget Joe Biden sent relief checks because, unlike Mr. Trump, he was not a self-absorbed narcissist who insisted that his name go on the checks.

The people gravitated to Trump again on the campaign trail when he said we had the worst economy in the world when in actuality it was performing the best.

While Kamala Harris and Tim Walz made proposals that would actually lift people up, people seemed to think that Donald Trump’s plans to do away with taxes on tips and overtime were real, discounting that the first tax cuts he and his Republicans in Congress passed in 2017 gave crumbs to the working and lower middle class while giving the top one percent $61,000.

Oh, and about being so supportive of people who work overtime, it should be noted that it was a Trump judge, Sean D. Jordan ruled against a Biden/Harris policy that expanded overtime protection to four million United States workers.

It was also a Trump Judge who ruled that credit card companies can increase late fees.

Those same working-class voters, especially in red counties Trump won, may be about to get the hosing of a lifetime if Republicans in Congress and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency get their way by making cuts to programs like Social Security, Medicaid, Food Stamps, the Affordable Care Act health markets, and unemployment insurance while also extending the tax cuts for that very same top one percent.

Trump was one of the most anti-worker presidents in his first term.

Despite that, people still voted for him over the adminsitration that was the most pro-worker in recent history.

They voted for him over the President and Vice President who actually showed their support for union workers by standing with them on a picket line.

They voted against the party that, unlike Mr. Trump’s, believes everyone should have a living wage and assistance to pay for essentials like child care and housing.

Good job.

These people need to watch out for Trump II, the sequel.

It may not be pretty…for them.

    • The economy is already going up John. Of course, like Trump took credit for Obama’s economy after he fixed it following the Great Recession. He is about to take credit for Biden’s after Biden fixed it following Trump’s gross mismanagement in the first term during the pandemic that tanked the economy. By the way John, what do you think of Trump’s proposal to raise tariffs on Mexico and Canada 25 percent and China ten percent. Do you think the people who go to shopping in your district are going to enjoy it? Please advise and take care. Have a nice Thanksgiving.

That’s exactly what Felonious Punk does. And legions of suckers, like our “Good Senator”, eat it up!

    • Oh; please. The man bankrupted a casino, which is the next best to owning a mint when it comes to having a license to print money.

Improving the economy to help someone else? That would take actual work. Not Cheeto’s forte..

Improving the economy to help someone not himself? Not gonna happen.

He’ll just take the easy way out and blame others when it goes south.

      And then go golfing.

  1. You’re right,, it won’t be pretty when things go for them but the overriding fear is they’ve been heavily conditioned to blame liberals/Democrats when they do.

One of the hallmarks of conservative Republicans is when things don’t work out, immediately blame whoever they don’t like at the moment. Especially who’s incapable (in their eyes) of fighting back.
