This would be a sick joke if Democracy and competent Arizona Governance were not on the ballot this November.
In a stunning example of hypocrisy and nerve, Arizona MAGA zealots Jake ‘Troll Farm’ Hoffman, Wendy ‘The COVID-19 vaccine is an instrument of the Devil’ Rogers, and Mark ‘I was with the other criminals at the Nation’s Capitol on January 6’ Finchem announced they would launch an investigation into allegations, dismissed weeks ago by Kris Maye’s Attorney General’s Office, of Governor Hobbs’s involvement in securing 30 percent rate hikes for Sunshine Residential after that organizations corporate officers donated to the Governors 2022 inaugural fund and the Arizona Democratic Party.
It is especially galling that these three individuals, with checkered pasts of their own, have the temerity to get up there and claim, despite their own records and turning a blind eye to all of their false god-Trump’s transgressions, with straight faces, that they are pursuing these investigations to hold the Governor and Attorney General accountable.
During the press announcement with Rogers and Finchem still behind him, Hoffman, a 2020 fake elector and the one accused of operating a telemarketing troll farm with illegal child labor and the one cited for speeding, was nauseating in his response to AZ Central’s Stacey Barchenger’s question that he is launching this investigation because donations from an organization aligned with Turning Point went to his ad agency to promote Anti Hobbs media coverage, said:
“Stacey, I’m going to ask you a very honest question back. Has my scrutiny and pursuit of the truth as it relates to Katie Hobbs differed or wavered at any point during the four years that you’ve known me? The reality, the reality is that this is the media trying to spin narratives that don’t exist.
Stacey, I have a lot of respect for you, but that question is absolutely inappropriate. I can walk and chew gum at the same time. I have a professional duty.
We are a lay legislature. I have a professional role that I play running an ad agency, and I have an elected responsibility that the people of Arizona have bestowed on me. My job as their elected representative is to pursue the truth.
I have made it very clear that I stand, and my voting record and my record in government has shown that I will call out my own side just as aggressively as I will call out the other side. I have no problem holding all parties accountable, because what I want and what I believe the people of Arizona demand is that we have a government that works for everyone, regardless of political party. So I think that your question is false in its premise, and I will be objective, just as I have been for four years in the Senate, in my interactions with the entire Katie Hobbs administration.”
“Pursue the truth!!” -Who is he kidding?
The sad part is that he, Rogers, Finchem, and their supporters probably do not think what they are doing is wrong.
In reporting from ABC News 15, Hobbs Campaign Spokesperson Michael Beyer said:
“With just 21 days until voting starts and Andy Biggs’ cronies realizing they are running out of time to change the trajectory of his floundering campaign, it’s no surprise a political consultant profiting from Biggs’ campaign is resorting to desperate political stunts to rescue him,”
Richie Taylor, spokesperson for Attorney General Kris Mayes, also told ABC News 15 Hoffman’s investigation was “Performative political nonsense” and “It’s time for Senate Republicans like Jake Hoffman – who makes his living as a political consultant to Republican campaigns – to explain why they are using tax dollars on a political grudge match three weeks before ballots are mailed.”
Senate Democratic Leader Priya Sundareshan, also commenting to ABC News 15, called Hoffman’s move “Political Theater” and “Enough is enough. Jake Hoffman is a state senator, not a Republican campaign consultant on the taxpayers’ dime. Arizonans deserve serious governing, not political grudges dressed up as investigations and perfectly timed for election season. Arizonans are smart enough to read between the lines.”
Arizona Senate Democrats issued a joint post, conveying:
“Senator Hoffman is using tax dollars to campaign for Andy Biggs which is against the law. And he’s being empowered to do so by the 2 GOP Senators who wrote the current version of the law Hoffman is violating: Warren Petersen and John Kavanagh. It is time for these GOP Senate Leaders to put a stop to this grifting and electioneering. It’s just the type of disregard for the law that an alleged fake elector would use to line his pockets.”
Arizona voters in the realm of reality and common decency should see this move by Hoffman and his MAGA allies, Rogers and Finchem, for what it is: A demented and desperate farce designed to sway the uninformed to support their fellow MAGA ally Andy Biggs, the person who voted to cut food and health care assistance to Arizona’s children, supported Mr. Trump’s gas price-raising war against Iran, and has a record of protecting pedophiles.
Arizona voters: Do not fall for it.
