Press release from the Andrei Cherney for State Treasurer campaign:
Clock is Ticking for Ducey to Come Clean
Monday deadline for millionaire State Treasurer candidate to reveal his investments is rapidly approaching.
PHOENIX – Former Arizona prosecutor Andrei Cherny today renewed his demand that millionaire state treasurer candidate Douglas Ducey reveal to the public his investment holdings as required by law. The Monday deadline is rapidly approaching.
Cherny, and every one of Ducey's GOP primary opponents, have listed their stock holdings. In his official financial disclosure form, Ducey failed to report any holdings in stocks, bonds, hedge funds or other financial instruments.
Ducey should reveal a full list of his investments, accounts, assets, sources of income, and debts over the past year – and what each of them are truly worth. This is required by law and what a Treasurer owes to the public.
"When I saw a headline about Mr. Ducey in Wednesday's Yuma Sun that read 'GOP candidate for state treasurer calls for transparency,' I thought that meant he was coming clean on his financial history," said Cherny. "I'm glad he's joining in my call to open up the books on what is happening in state government, but he has to start by opening up with voters on his own finances as the law requires. We need to know about any potential conflicts of interest. Arizonans are waiting to see whether Mr. Ducey comes clean by Monday. I sincerely hope he will. Arizona can't afford another shadow over the Treasurer's office."

Time for Douglas Ducey to Disclose his Dollars
In the wake of a misleading financial disclosure, Cherny calls on Ducey to reveal his assets and holdings by Monday.
PHOENIX – Arizona prosecutor Andrei Cherny today called on millionaire Republican state treasurer candidate Douglas Ducey to reveal a full list of his investments, accounts, assets, sources of income, and debts – and what each of them are truly worth. This comes in the wake of Ducey filing a required financial disclosure form with the Secretary of State's office that included almost no information about what he owns, what he owes, and which financial interests could potentially be pulling his string as Treasurer. This is in stark contrast to the disclosure forms submitted not only by Cherny, but by Ducey's Republican primary opponents — Ted Carpenter, Barbara Leff, and Thayer Verschoor.
State law makes it a Class One misdemeanor to knowingly omit information from or falsify information in disclosure forms. Ducey is running for the Treasurer's office that has a recent history of indictments and ethical clouds. The people of Arizona deserve to have a full picture of each candidate's financial history so they can look for any potential conflicts-of-interest for the job charged with safeguarding and wisely investing taxpayer dollars.
“As a prosecutor, I went after financial fraud artists, corporate crooks, and corrupt public officials – and I got them every time,” Cherny said. “The Treasurer is supposed to be the state’s financial watchdog. I’ll go even further and be the taxpayer’s bulldog – going after the big banks and bureaucrats that have been harming our state’s economy. On Tax Day this year, I launched a 'Transparency in the Treasury' campaign to demand that Dean Martin reveal the list of state stock holdings. But it starts with accountability for the Treasurer candidates themselves and the last thing we need is the potential of a fox guarding the hen house.
“If this was just a mistake on Mr. Ducey's part, he should fix it immediately. I’m giving him till Monday to reveal a full list of his investments, accounts, assets, sources of income, and debts – and what each of them are worth in real numbers. The Treasurer has enormous power to make billions of dollars of investment decisions for the people of Arizona and the public has a right to know what conflicts of interests Mr. Ducey might have. If he does not reveal this list by Monday, we’ll know he has something to hide.”
