While Arizonans will hear the sound of crickets from the Republican members of its Congressional Delegation with regards to the activities of Elon Musk and his band of twenty somethings who are gaining access to vital government departments and creating chaos by helping to illegally shut some of them down, the Democrats representing the Grand Canyon State in Washington are not being shy about calling it what it is: “a hostile takeover of the United States Government” and invasion into the privacy of American Citizens with the approval of Musk’s puppet, Donald Trump and the silent acquiescence of spineless and enthusiastic MAGA Republicans in Congress.
House Representative Yassamin Ansari has been perhaps the most vocal of Arizona’s Congressional Democrats, speaking on the Well of the House accusing Trump and Musk of “Breaking the law and tearing apart our Constitution.”
On Musk, Ansari said of this modern Orwellian Big Brother, “Trump has handed over the government to Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire who does not care about the American People...Musk now has access to Americans confidential tax refund information which includes their names, social security numbers, and home addresses…As a member of the House Oversight Committee, we are calling out this breach of law, privacy, and national security on behalf of the American People.“
Later at a Nobody Elected Elon Rally outside the Department of Treasury, the Arizona Congressional District Three Representative Ansari continued her condemnation of his and Trumps Neo-Fascist actions, saying that the people in her district “Did not sign up for Elon Musk’s hostile takeover of the United States Government.”
Ansari continued framing the case for what is at stake for the country, saying “Illegal action after illegal action and (Trump) allowing an unelected billionaire, Elon Musk, to do whatever it is that he pleases. He literally thinks that he is a king. And King Trump and Elon Musk are going after all of your freedoms, all of your rights, your money, your health insurance, your privacy, your data, and we can not stand for it…This is not what a Democracy is all about. We will not stand for it. We will use every lever in our power…We need you to call your Republican Representatives and ask them why they are complicit in the hostile takeover and dismantling of every agency (like Treasury, USAID, and the Department of Education.)”
Representative Greg Stanton focused his ire on what Musk and his MAGA underlinings are doing at the Treasury Department, posting:
Senator Ruben Gallego also focused on the Treasury in his comments, stating in a social media post:
“It’s tax season right now and families across the country are waiting for a refund to help them catch up on bills. Instead of making our government more efficient, Elon Musk is try trying to eliminate the Free File tax system. But Elon doesn’t care about efficiency. He cares about one thing: cutting programs, no matter who it hurts, to fund a tax break for billionaires like him.”
Senator Mark Kelly discussed Musk and Trump’s move to eliminate the USAID, the lead organization charged with dispensing foreign aid, in his post, saying that this attempt to shut down an agency that “keeps kids from starving” around the world” and keeps countries away “from our adversaries,” is “a bad idea by the Administration…A really bad call by the White House.”

Golly gee, what a relief to know that AZ legislators are ranting and raving about the hostile takeover of the Federal government by an unelected billionaire.
So while Trump is trying to get rid of thousands of federal workers, USAID, the Dept. of Education, etc…and reimagining Canada as the 51st state and Gaza as the Riviera of the Mideast etc…, Elon Musk is playing him like a fiddle.
The damage these two are capable of is incalculable.
So, while Democratic legislators rant and rave, what is their plan for resistance? Do we just let it all slip away, wringing our hands, cursing the MAGA voters?
Congress has been a sweet gig. Well, not anymore for Democrats. Organize and DO SOMETHING!

Gallego & Kelly would have more credibility on this if they hadn’t voted to confirm Bessent as Treasury Secretary, who gave the go ahead for Elmo Skum to ransack Treasury computers.
There’s already reports of Social Security beneficiaries not receiving their checks/deposits.
