Are We Better Off Than We Were Four Years Ago? Is this a Trick Question

At the height of Orwellian hypocrisy, the Trump Presidential Campaign is trying to assert that things were better when he was President four years ago than now.

What chutzpah.

Another big lie from the Mad King of Big Lies.

This recent cartoon from Clay Bennett of the Chattanooga Times Free Press says it all.

The people who are not here anymore because they followed Mr. ‘Put disinfectant in your arm’s’ call to not wear masks are certainly not better off.

It is no wonder Mr. ‘Windmills are dangerous’ core supporters include a substantial portion of the uneducated and ill-informed in this country. They will likely agree with the Reagan popularized question and conclude that they were better off despite the deaths, quarantines, school and restuarant closures, event cancellations, hospital overcrowding, the supply chain debacle with people struggling to find toilet paper, and tanked economy.

In a couple of video segments shared by AZ Blue Meanie, it is very clear that the nation is better off with President Biden at the helm rather than Mr. ‘I killed Roe v Wade.’

The first one from the Chris Hayes show on MSNBC reminds people that four years ago, Mr. ‘I think Hitler did good things’ was holding a Rose Garden Press Conference, declaring a national emergency with the growing Coronavirus Pandemic.

What is especially beneficial to voters to view again is the portion of the press conference where Mr. ‘I was endorsed twice by David Duke’ failed to take responsibilty for delays in testing and the closure of the White House Pandemic office, calling the question on that “nasty.” Mr. ‘I enabled the January 6 Domestic Terrorist Attacks’ also repeatedly downplayed the severity of the pandemic that day until the end when he said “it could get worse.”

Voters need to ask themselves. Do they want this great thinker, the one who thinks windmills cause cancer and kill many birds, in charge of shaping policy when another emergency occurs, especially since his new team, unlike the majority of the old one that has said they are not supporting him this year, will likely be filled with more intense MAGA types where science denialism is a badge of honor.

AZ Blue Meanie also shared a fact check analysis by MSNBC’s Steve Rattner on Mr. ‘Liar in Chief’s’ assertions (big lies) about the state of the nation under President Biden.

On Crime, Mr. ‘I have 91 indictments to defend and been found liable for sexual assault and business fraud’s’ claims that it is out of control under Joe Biden.

Rattner successfully refuted that, showing that the crime rates have been going down during the Biden/Harris Administration. He showed that violent crime was recently at its hightest in 2020 when Mr. ‘there will be a bloodbath if I lose again’ was in office. It has gone down 15 percent since Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris came into office. Property crime showed the same pattern with it being at its highest when Mr. ‘I have been impeached twice’ was “leading” the country” and going down seven percent since the Biden/Harris team came into office.

On Mr. ‘I love dirty coal’s’ assertion that President Biden is waging a war on domestic energy, Rattner again tore this big lie down, showing that there has been “record energy production under the Biden Administration” consisting of “fossil, nuclear, and renewable” options.

Rattner also displayed a graph that showed how energy independence has grown under the Biden/Harris Administration with record productions of oil and natural gas.

On Mr. ‘I want to cut Social Security and Medicare’s’ claim that his tax cuts were bigger than the Reagan ones (they were not) and his Administration was on track to pay down the debt, Rattner again disproved this boast, showing that the Trump/Republican tax cuts (like all the Republican tax cuts since 1981) have increased the deficit. Donald Trump, with his tax cuts and first COVID Relief measure, added close to nine trillion to the national debt.

The red ink has actually started to go down again (as always with Democrats) with the Biden/Harris Administration. Rattner also noted that the current FY25 budget proposal from the Administration would bring down the deficit further (while making investments to lift people out of poverty and expand the middle class.)

Women in this country should also ask if thet better off with their reproductive freedom with the three Supreme Court Justices he appointed in his term.

So are we better off than we were four years ago? Is this a trick question. You bet your tuckas we are.

  • The pandemic, while still having spurts, has been largely contained, with many in this country taking the vaccine.
  • The nation has been creating jobs at a consistently high pace with unemployment routinely under four percent.

Furthermore, the Biden/Harris Administration, unlike the Trump/Pence one:

  • Passed a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that is helping to rebuild this country.
  • Secured a limited prescription drug benefit, capping insulin costs at $35 for seniors.
  • Signed into law the CHIPS Act which will have a positive effect on American Manufacturing.
  • Appointed a record number of women and minority jurists to the bench.

The list of positives can go on and on.

While there have been issues like inflation (largely fueled by corporate greed,) further attacks on reproductive freedom (thanks to Trump’s Supreme Court picks) in red states, and a holiday influx at the southern border (numbers have gone down since then and Republicans, despite their heming and hawing on the issue have repeatedly walked away from Comprehensive Immigration Reform and funding border security,) voters, when they look at the facts, can reasonably conclude the nation and the people, for the most part, are better off now then they were four years ago.

Do not fall for the MAGA Orwellian Deceit and Big Lies again.
