With periodic chants of four more years from the Democratic side of the aisle, Vice President Kamala Harris continually applauding, and Speaker Mike Johnson squirming, President Biden aggressively and vigorously laid out a second term agenda that built on the tremendous successes of the first term of the Biden/Harris Administration (Bipartisan Infrastructure, CHIPS Act, Prescription Drug Reduction, shifting to a Clean Energy economy, Expanding N.A.T.O, aiding Ukraine) while also reminding the American People (and also taunting MAGA Republicans by telling them to “look at the facts and I know you know how to read”) that the Trumpists are standing in the way of history with their opposition to aiding Ukraine, protecting Reproductive Freedom, suppressing Democracy at home, promoting the Big Lie of 2020, and obstructing border security even though the latest bipartisan Senate legislation contained several measures dear to conservatives.

The President reminded the audience that he would not refer to immigrants as poisoning the blood like Trump (whom he continually referred to as his predecessor) has, that we are all children and grandchildren of immigrants, and and that he introduced Comprehensive Immigration Reform on his first day in office.

He also reminded the audience that it was Trump who said Putin could do what he wanted to with N.A.T.O. members who he felt were not paying his bills, that he bragged that he killed Roe V Wade, and people should just get over it with regards to school shootings.

The President also outlined his plans to increase aid to Palestinians in Gaza through the creation of a coastal pier to safely receive and disburse humanitarian. He strongly condemned Hamas for their barbaric actions on October 7, 2023 that brought on the current crisis while also saying Israel has a responsibility to ensure innocent civilians are not victimized.

Perhaps the strongest part of the speech was the President’s concluding remarks where he took on the subject of his age reflecting on how his life story shaped his optimistic world view (in contrast to the vindictive filled philosophies of Trump rooted in ancient hatreds) based on Democracy, freedom, middle class expansion, saving the planet from the climate crisis, saving Americans from gun violence, and his belief in the bright future of the nation through the enduring spirit and drive of the American People.

For those who felt the President was not up to the job, hopefully this address will lay these baseless concerns to rest.
