Circus sideshow CPAC Conference this week

The Beltway media villagers will be wasting a great deal of air time and ink over the next couple of weeks covering the circus sideshow of far-right fringe groups at the CPAC 2013 – Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C. March 14-16.

In fact, the Beltway media villagers have already wasted a great deal of air time and ink over the past month in anticipation of the circus coming to town.

Back in February, GOP political consultant Steve Schmidt was asked about the CPAC 2013 Conference. Steve Schmidt: CPAC is the 'Star Wars Bar Scene of the Conservative Movement':

[D]uring a discussion with Thomas Roberts and Jimmy LaSalvia of GOProud
about why CPAC excludes gays and other groups from their conference the
topic of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie came up, and his own lack
of invitation to speak. Steve Schmidt, John McCain's campaign manager,
had nothing good to say about CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference, the distilled fringiest of the right wing fringe:

ROBERTS: “Why does the CPAC organization want to risk alienating burgeoning stars like a Chris Christie, not invite him?”

SCHMIDT: “Look, this CPAC convention is increasingly the Star Wars
bar scene of the conservative movement. All that’s missing from that
convention is a couple of Wookies
.”

Below is the Adidas Originals – Star Wars™ Cantina 2010 ad for an "intergalactic 2010 FIFA World Cup™ viewing party," a very well done recreation of the classic Star Wars bar scene. . . probably close to what Steve Schmidt had in mind.
