Coup Plotter Republicans Create ‘The Republican Committee To Obstruct Justice’ Into Their Own Criminal Investigations

I will reiterate what I have said many times before. The Party of Trump is a criminal enterprise led by a third-rate mafia “Don” Trump. They are all accomplices, co-conspirators and accessories who aid and abet his criminality and corruption. There is not a patriot among them. They put fealty to their “Dear Leader” above all else, including loyalty to their country and our national security, and their oaths of office to defend the Constitution. They reject the rule of law and are amoral. It is a betrayal of the faith of the American people in our constitutional government. They must all be held accountable

Purges of “political enemies” is what what totalitarian regimes do, e.g., Joseph Stalin’s Soviet Union. Trump’s criminal enterprise in the House, the suspected Coup Plotters in the seditious insurrection on January 6, 2021, now want to “investigate the investigators” and to obstruct justice into their own criminal investigations. Not only does this violate the separation of powers, it is an unprecedented abuse of power and undermines the rule of law. They are trying to cover up their crimes and to obstruct their own possible prosecutions.

The Department of Justice being so damn slow to indict these congressional Coup Plotters has only emboldened these fascist barbarians at the gate of our democracy to be more extreme, because they believe they can act with impunity. The Department of Justice must act swiftly against these congressional Coup Plotters and indict them now. I would bring a RICO action against the Republican Party, treat it as the criminal enterprise that it is, prosecute all of its capos, and seize its assets – put it out of business just like any other mafia organization.

The Washington Post reports, Republican-led House votes to investigate the investigators:

The Republican-led House on Tuesday voted to create a panel to probe Biden administration investigations, including “ongoing criminal investigations” at the Justice Department such as those involving former president Donald Trump. The panel, which House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) agreed to create in response to demands by hard-line conservatives, is being referred to as the “Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.” During floor debate, Democrats argued that Republicans were trying to undermine the rule of law. Rep. Daniel S. Goldman (D-N.Y.) said a better name for the panel would be “the Republican Committee to Obstruct Justice.”

In an interview with Chris Hayes, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) called it the ‘Coverup Committee.”

The Hill reports, House GOP approves resolution to create panel to probe ‘weaponization’ of federal government:

Republican lawmakers on Tuesday gave their approval to a new House subcommittee designed to probe the “weaponization” of the federal government, giving the panel access to sensitive intelligence and the power to oversee ongoing criminal investigations. [Violates separation of powers and the rue of law.]

The resolution passed on a party-line vote, 221-211. [Even the non-Coup Plotters went along, they are accessories-after-the-fact in a coverup to obstruct justice. Every Republican now has criminal exposure.]

The subcommittee, part of the House Judiciary Committee, is expected to be chaired by the full panel’s chairman, [Coup Plotter] Rep. “Gym” Jordan (R-Ohio). [Who defied a subpoena from the January 6 Select Committee to testify about his role in plotting the January 6 insurrection.]

Such a move would give broad authority to Jordan, an ally [capo] of former President Trump who has railed against current and prior investigations of the former president.

[T]he panel’s creation is a victory for the House’s Freedom [sic] Caucus – more accurately described as the GQP House Fascist Caucus – which pushed for a body that would tackle a number of GOP grievances, carrying on Jordan’s prior claims that the Justice Department, and most particularly the FBI, has “ridiculed conservative Americans.”

The subcommittee, set to include 13 Republicans and five Democrats, comes amid numerous criminal probes into Trump and his associates [including GQP members of Congress who want on this committee.]

The Justice Department continues its investigation into Trump and others for their efforts to prevent the transfer of power, appointing a special counsel to oversee that matter as well as the ongoing investigation into the mishandling of records at Trump’s Florida home.

Freshman Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-N.Y.), who as a congressional staffer served as counsel in both of Trump’s impeachments, sees the subcommittee as a direct attack on those ongoing Justice Department investigations.

“I rise to make something crystal clear: the primary purpose of this special subcommittee is to interfere with the special counsel’s ongoing investigation into a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election. This is a shocking abuse of power,” he said.

Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), in an appearance on MSNBC, dismissed the panel for teeing up “investigations that are meant to stop the mechanics of government.”

Judiciary Ranking Member Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) said the committee was largely created to “settle political scores on behalf of Donald Trump.”

“The Judiciary Committee has serious work to do. But rather than trying to solve the problems of the American people, this new subcommittee will expend untold time and money undermining our nation’s law enforcement agencies, our justice system, and our intelligence community, all for a political stunt catering to the extremist wing of the Republican Party,” he said.

[D]emocrats also raised concerns that in some cases appointees to the subcommittee could be intervening in investigations that involve them – a potential conflict of interest that goes unaddressed in its establishing resolution.

Several have pointed to [Coup Plotter] Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) who’s phone was seized by the Justice Department last year. Perry was also subpoenaed by the House select committee investigating Jan. 6, 2021, which wished to ask about his role introducing Trump to Jeffrey Clark, a Justice Department attorney he weighed installing as attorney general as a way to forward an investigation into his baseless claims of voter fraud.

Perry has said there’s no reason he should be barred from the subcommittee.

“Why should I be limited — why should anybody be limited — just because someone has made an accusation? Everybody in America is innocent until proven guilty,” Perry said over the weekend during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week.”

But Goldman contended such a move would be inappropriate.

“He has indicated that he wants to be on this subcommittee, so that he can undermine a criminal investigation into himself. My Republican counterparts can dress up the subcommittee with a menacing name, but let’s call it what it really is: the Republican committee to obstruct justice,” Goldman said.
