(UPDATED) Donald Trump Just Said “F You” Again to the American People by Cancelling the Signing of the Bipartisan Housing Bill

Remember when serial lying, convicted, and impeached Donald Trump hookwinked millions of amnesiac swing voters in 2024, who had forgotten his poor management and criminal acts in his first term, with promises that he would bring prices down.

Well, we told you so.

In his latest Fascist-Authoritarian attempt to extort Congress to do his bidding and pass the voting suppression-filled SAVE Act, the aspiring Duce told Republicans and Democrats that he would cancel signing the Bipartisan Housing Bill until they gave him what he wanted on making it harder for people to vote.

The Bipartisan 21st Century Road to Housing Act had earned praise from Arizona’s Democratic Congressional Delegation.

Representative Yassamin Ansari issued a press release that read:

“Housing affordability remains one of the most urgent challenges facing Arizonans. I hear from families every day who are being priced out of their neighborhoods and struggling to afford a home. This bill, which will soon become a law, is an important step towards expanding access to affordable housing for those in my district in Arizona and across the country. As Chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus Lowering Costs Task Force, I will continue holding affordability tours and listening directly to Americans, and ensuring that those conversations inform our work ahead.”

Earlier today, Senator Mark Kelly posted:

“Owning a home is out of reach for too many Arizona families.

A bipartisan housing bill is officially on its way to the president’s desk to become law. It cuts red tape, builds more homes, and cracks down on hedge funds buying up single-family homes. That’s a real win.”

After hearing about Mr. Trump’s latest baby tantrum and attempt at Mafia style extortion, Senator Kelly released another post, saying:

“‘Cancelled.’

Donald Trump just cancelled signing a bill that’s strongly supported by Republicans and Democrats to help Americans afford a home.

Rent, home ownership, affording a place to live, all of it is a big challenge for millions of Americans.

But again, Donald Trump doesn’t care.”

Senator Ruben Gallego did not mince words either, releasing the below video, conveying:

“We just heard the news that the president’s refusing to sign the Road to Housing Bill, bill that passed with 85 Senate votes, Democrats and Republicans. I actually worked on that bill for almost a year and a half with a lot of legislation to basically make it easier to build. Right now, people are hurting.

It’s hard to get any American family to even buy a home, let alone try to find any kind of stable housing. You know, for me, like I know this is very personal to a lot of people, including me, like I was very lucky that my mom had a stable apartment for us. And even though, yeah, I didn’t have a bed for a long time, at least had stable housing.

A lot of Americans don’t have that now. Shame on Donald Trump for not signing the Road to Housing Bill. Americans are asking for help right now.

And he basically is just playing politics.”

Representative Adelita Grijlava and Tucson Mayor Regina Romero released a joint statement condemning Trump’s latest screwing of the American People.

Mayor Romero wrote:

“The housing crisis is real, and we feel its impacts every day in Tucson. I appreciate the bipartisan work that brought Congress together to address the urgent need for more affordable housing. Families struggling with rising housing costs cannot afford more delays. I urge the President to sign this bill. It is disappointing that legislation designed to help people find and afford housing is being held hostage to advance unrelated restrictions on voting rights.”

Representative Grijalva commented:

“This bipartisan bill is an important step towards addressing the housing crisis by expanding affordable housing supply, supporting homebuyers, and combating the growing role of private equity and corporate investors that are buying up thousands of homes and driving up rents. Instead of delivering relief to working families, Trump is holding this bipartisan bill hostage for radical legislation that would disenfranchise millions of voters and restrict access to vote by mail, which 80% of Arizonans rely on. This is nothing more than a desperate attempt at a federal takeover of our elections because Trump knows voters will hold him accountable at the ballot box for tanking our economy.”

From cutting food and health assistance programs to price-rising tariffs to losing foreign policy gambles in his war of choice against Iran, which has raised gas and grocery prices, Donald Trump has done nothing to reduce prices for the American People.

It has been one F You after another since he has returned to office.

Cancelling a bill signing that would reduce housing costs and restore the American Dream for many, so he could blackmail Republican and Democratic Congressional Legislators to support the voting-suppressing SAVE ACT to further his agenda to take us back to the Gilded Age, a time when women could not vote, and minorities had racist restrictions imposed on them from casting a ballot, should not be a surprise to anyone right now.

Republicans and Democrats need to push back and tell the Mad King No and make him sign the Bipartisan Housing Act.

If the Iranians could do it and get what they want, so should they.
