Republican Congressman Juan Ciscomani (CD6) has repeatedly put Trump’s agenda ahead of your health care, food security, pocketbook, and constitutional rights.
From Medicaid and SNAP cuts to tariffs, ICE immigration enforcement, and the war with Iran—Ciscomani sided with Trump every time.
He backed Trump’s cost-raising tariffs
Ciscomani cannot credibly campaign that he cares about your cost of living while voting to raise the cost of groceries, appliances, and household goods.
Ciscomani has repeatedly voted against efforts to roll back Trump’s tariffs, including tariffs affecting Canada, Mexico, China, and other trading partners. Democrats have documented nine separate votes in which he supported or protected Trump’s tariff agenda. When Congress had opportunities to check tariffs that raise costs, Ciscomani sided with Trump.
One example came in February 2026, when Ciscomani voted against H.J. Res. 72, to terminate Trump’s “national-emergency” tariff action.
Tariffs are taxes paid at the border that are passed on to you in higher prices. This matters acutely in Arizona, where Mexico is a dominant trading partner and where restaurants, retailers, farmers, ranchers, manufacturers, and families rely on cross-border commerce.

Ciscomani voted for the Iran war
Ciscomani also sided with Trump to start and continue the pointless war in Iran. On March 5, 2026, he voted against H.Con.Res. 38, a War Powers Resolution directing the president to remove U.S. armed forces from hostilities in Iran unless Congress authorized it. With Ciscomani’s “nay” vote, the measure failed 212–219.
Ciscomani repeatedly opposed measures intended to end or constrain the war, even as other Republicans crossed party lines to demand congressional authorization and limits on escalation.
For Southern Arizona families already confronting high gasoline ($65 per fill-up), diesel, and food costs, the prolonged Iran war means higher prices at home. Ciscomani’s record shows he chose Trump’s war policy over meaningful congressional oversight.

He voted to cut health care and food aid
Ciscomani voted for H.R. 1, the Republican “beautiful bill,” even though it included major cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in rural and predominantly Latino communities.
The consequences are substantial:
- The enacted law will reduce federal Medicaid spending by an estimated $911 billion over 10 years and increase the number of uninsured people by roughly 10 million, according to Congressional Budget Office estimates.
- The law’s nutrition provisions will cut $187 billion in federal SNAP spending (food stamps) over 10 years. CBO estimates the provisions will kick 2.4 million people off SNAP in an average month during that period
Ciscomani had a choice: honor his stated commitment to protect vulnerable constituents, or support Trump’s sweeping tax-and-spending package. He always chose Trump’s package.
He voted to expand ICE detention and deportation
Even though Ciscomani is an immigrant himself, he voted for massive new funding for murderous raids by immigration agents. According to Congress.gov, H.R. 1 provides:
| Funding area | Amount |
| ICE detention capacity, including adult and family detention | $45 billion through FY2029 |
| ICE hiring, enforcement, deportation operations, transportation, technology, facilities, and related functions | More than $29 billion through FY2029 |
| Total immigration, detention and deportation funding | About $170 billion |

For a border district with deep binational, immigrant, and Latino family ties, Ciscomani voted to finance a historic expansion of cruel mass deportation and detention.
The pattern: loyalty to Trump
On numerous defining votes, he has repeatedly voted for Trump plans:
- Ciscomani said he would protect Medicaid, then voted for a law to cut hundreds of billions from the program.
- He claimed to care about affordability, but then supported Trump’s cost-boosting tariffs.
- He voted for an enormous expansion of terrifying ICE detention facilities and murderous deportation raids.
- He serves in Congress, but voted against Congress reclaiming authority over the unauthorized war with Iran.
Juan Ciscomani has not been an independent voice for Southern Arizona when it mattered. He has been a reliable vote for Trump’s agenda—and Southern Arizona families are left to bear the cost.
