Stacey Seaman of Casa Grande announced she is running as a Democrat for the state Senate seat in Legislative District 16, a key battleground district in Arizona.

Here’s our TheDGT.org/BlogForArizona interview with Stacey!

“With only one week until the deadline to file Stacey’s signatures, we are in a time crunch. It’s incredibly important that we get Stacey on the ballot.”

Community activist Stacey Seaman of Casa Grande needs you to put her on the ballot.

He added, “Without Stacey on the ballot, the path to a Democratic legislature in Arizona for the first time in nearly 60 years becomes much harder.”

LD16 is a highly competitive district that leans Republican. Stacey’s father, Democrat Rep. Keith Seaman of LD16, is running for re-election. His daughter, Stacey, has made the exciting decision to run for State Senate.

Stacey aims to oust one-term Republican TJ Shope, known for his cowboy cosplay and hat. He supported tax cuts for the wealthy, voter suppression bills, making immigration a crime, and the disastrous Republican school vouchers.

He is also not too bright. His campaign website says he’ll protect “your 2nd Amendment right to your freedom of speech.” Americans know that Freedom of speech is in the 1st Amendment.

A young Democrat

Stacy, age 51, is the Pence Center for the Arts Director at Central Arizona College.

Stacey grew up in the rural community of Lake Havasu City and was one of the founding members of the Young Democrats of America Club at her high school. She also volunteered for her dad’s first legislative campaign when she was sixteen.

After graduating from the U of A with a degree in Music Education, Stacey briefly taught music in Tucson before moving to Casa Grande to teach music in the Casa Grande Elementary School District. While working for the district, she was an honoree of the “Every Scholar Has a Teacher” award several times. She was also a proud member of the Arizona Education Association and the National Association for Music Education member.

Stacey has always been a strong community advocate and is prominent in the Casa Grande Community. Her credentials include serving on:

  • The Casa Grande Arts and Humanities Commission for nine years.
  • The Casa Grande Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for two years.
  • The Creative Communities grant delegation through the Arizona Commission on the Arts for three years.
  • A Casa Grande “Voices” of the Future Honoree.
  • Named an Exemplary Woman Leader for Pinal County and a National Women in Business Week Honoree.
  • Co-founder of the small non-profit arts organization she co-founded, BlackBox Foundation. It was named a Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year under her operation.

Stacey has received two Master’s Degrees: one in music conducting from Southern Oregon University and one in theatre education from the University of Northern Colorado. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Education from Boston University.
