Alligator Pig. That’s the name of this game. My dog Magic loves to play this game with most of the Labs we foster. Some are too sedate or too sumissive to play, but most are game. Shown here is Aspen, now named Rose by her new adoptive people, our most recent foster dog. Rose loved the Alligator Pig game.
The rules are simple: open your mouth, grunt and snort, and try to bite and hold onto delicate parts of the other dog. I’ve seen this game played with great energy and ferocity as the dogs push each other around the house, and I’ve also seen it played in a rather desultory fashion while laying about, as shown here. Regardless of the variant, there are always two indespensible features of the game: grinning like a demented alligator, and grunting like a rooting pig.
