Battleground District Republican House Representatives including Arizona’s David Schweikert (CD One) and Juan Ciscomani (CD Six) took the proverbial deep dive the last two days against most of their constituents in voting to advance a MAGA budget resolution that robs from programs that benefit the poor, the vulnerable, children, and the aged while giving to the nation’s richest in the form of continuing the 2017 Trump tax cuts.
Both Schweikert and Ciscomani also approved MAGA Republicans taking a hands-off approach to Trump’s poor and middle-class expense-busting tariffs until October 2025.
Schweikert showed total hypocrisy by voicing his objections to the Senate Budget Resolution that MAGA House leadership wanted to put on the floor just three days ago.
Today, he voted to support it.
In a press release following the MAGA vote to screw most of their constituents, CD One Democratic House Candidate Marlene Galán-Woods issued a statement that read:
“Once again, hypocrite David Schweikert displayed his utter lack of courage and voted with party bosses at the expense of Arizonans. Make no mistake — David Schweikert would rather bend the knee to Trump than work for his constituents. This reckless, irresponsible vote will raise prices for everyday Arizonans, cut vital programs Arizonans depend on, and increase the deficit. In Congress, I will fight to lower costs and deliver for our families.”
CD Six House Democratic Candidate JoAnna Mendoza issued an equally stern rebuke of Ciscomani’s, the man so afraid to hold a town hall, he told people in his district he was having a telehall event with only 30 minutes’ notice, votes, writing:
“Juan Ciscomani just voted to raise prices on Arizona families to protect Donald Trump and his misguided tariffs from any Congressional oversight. This is a spineless, cowardly vote that will hurt hardworking Arizonans, especially veterans and federal workers, many of whom have lost their jobs at the hands of Donald Trump and unelected billionaire Elon Musk. Ciscomani continues to prove he’ll put politics ahead of his constituents and Arizona deserves better.”
After the vote, Arizona’s current Democratic Representatives, CD Three’s Yassamin Ansari and CD Four’s Democratic Representative Greg Stanton, issued comments on their no votes on the MAGA rob from the poor to give to the rich budget on social media.
Representative Ansari commented:
“Republicans just voted to make Elon Musk even richer — cutting health care, school lunch programs, and veterans’ benefits. The callousness and disregard for Americans is unreal. I was obviously a no.”
Representative Stanton conveyed:
“This budget resolution is an essential element of the Trump plan to cut tens of millions of Americans from access to health care while giving massive tax breaks to the largest corporations and wealthiest Americans. It is unprecedented in its fiscal irresponsibility. No member of Congress who voted yes today can ever claim to care about the deficit.”
Both Ansari and Stanton put out social media videos condemning the Trump tariffs and the MAGA House Leadership for blocking the attempt to restore Congressional authority over them.
