It’s Official: The GOP is the Party of Necrophilia

The GOP paid for and released a two minute deception-fest depicting the 9/11 memorial as a travesty and an insult to the families of 9/11, the victims, the troops, and America itself. They are officially out of any policy ideas with which to defeat Janet Napolitano, so they’ve stooped to sucking the juices out of the corpses of the victims and families of 9/11 for sustenance. GOP = necrophiliacs.

I suppose as a blogger I should be pleased by the development. This is the first time I’ve seen the paranoid ravings of a local right-wing blogger, in this case Espresso Pundit, become official policy of the state’s GOP. I can only hope that my own paranoid ravings will be adopted as whole-heartedly by my own party.

The bottom line of this one-sided controversy is that the events the memorial refers to all actually happened. They are part of the historical record of 9/11 and what followed. The GOP, in their inimitable fashion, have decided that their politics should determine our history, not the facts, just as they have determined that their sectarian religious beliefs and gut instincts should determine public policy. They therefore want to remove any words from th memorial that their fevered, corpse-obsessed imaginations can distort into being in any way critical of our response to 9/11 or the failures of national security policy leading to it. Of course, they still feel free to blame the entire thing on Clinton; as if that weren’t criticizing America. But everyone knows Clinton is a Democrat, and therefore not a real American, right?

The GOP is turning American politics into the art of being contemptible and ridiculous while keeping a straight face.
