Like a Bad Energizer Bunny, Andy Biggs keeps Going and Going

Arizona Congressional District Five Representative Andy Biggs

Andy Biggs can not keep away from talk radio and keep his mouth shut.

Like a bad Energizer Bunny, he keeps going and going.

Yesterday, the House Representative from Congressional District Five went on KTAR (a couple of days after speaking on KFYI-AM (550) and repeated his assertions about reopening the economy, despite the potential risk to human life during the Coronavirus, saying:

“Allow retail shops to open up the way they normally would with social distancing you see in grocery stores… businesses are just dying on the vine. We need to take care of that…If you can do it in a grocery store, for Pete’s sake, [or] at a liquor store, then I would suggest you can do it in a furniture store….I think we can responsibly allow Americans to be free and to make these adjustments and I think that’s important to realize.”

The one thing that makes sense in the above excerpts is liquor stores should not be regarded as essential businesses and allowed to stay open.

Everyone wants everything to return to normal but reopening favorite retail destinations like Changing Hands Bookstore (which this writer would love to happen) in Tempe is foolhardy because it could exponentially increase the chances for someone getting the Coronavirus.

The leader of the Freedom Cauc…Circus also asserted he would not be voting, like he did three times before, any additional stimulus measures.

“If they throw in like they did last time, nearly a trillion dollars of spending that’s absolutely unrelated to coronavirus, that would be a dealbreaker.”

To Mr. Biggs, these unrelated items deal with aid to hospitals and medical personnel, funds to help states and local entities combat the public health emergency, making sure all families (straight or gay) get cash relief, increases in Food Stamp assistance so people laid off work can put food on the table, and measures to enhance election safety and security.

What a guy. This is the person Donald Trump included in his Congressional Economic Reopening Taskforce.

How reassuring. How comforting.

Not to the Arizona Democratic Party where spokesperson Matt Grodsky released a statement which read in part:

“This latest incident with Rep. Biggs shows that he remains out of touch. The health and well being of Arizonans is critical. It is incumbent upon representatives like Biggs to do the right thing and provide economic relief to the American people, not put them in harm’s way.”

Joan Greene, the 2018 Democratic Congressional District Five  Nominee who ran against Mr. Biggs and is doing so again issued several statements on social media.

Arizona Democratic Congressional District Five Candidate Joan Greene

On Facebook, she wrote:

“KTAR gave Andy Biggs a platform this morning to promote his reckless views that Dr. Fauci should be fired and the economy needs to be opened.”

“Within minutes of announcing Biggs was going to be on their radio show, they posted an article on social media regarding the increase in COVID-deaths. This tells me they are aware of the dangers and yet they had no remorse knowing that some people rely on them for “news” and they willingly put them in harms way.”

https://ktar.com/…/arizona-coronavirus-case-total-nears-40…/

“The third highest outbreak in Arizona is in #AZ05, 59 cases and counting in 85206. This includes Leisure World and other retirement communities.”

“Biggs wants to stop proven safety precautions and open the flood gates to the spread of a deadly virus our vulnerable community does not have the physical ability to fight off.”

“I asked the talking head on KTAR if he trusted Biggs to protect his loved ones lives? I haven’t heard back.”

“We need leadership who will protect & provide guidance in a storm. I will continue to be the steady hand and keep you informed.”

“Stay safe and warn your neighbors the danger greater than COVID-19 is Biggs.”

On Twitter, she wrote:

“Andy, why don’t you, GOP, Fox talking heads, people who want the USA opened, etc., lead by example.”

“Go to the front line, hospitals, clean assisted living homes, stock grocery shelves. Unleash yourselves.”

“No? Then sit down.”

“I trust American people will agree with me.”

Ms. Greene is right. Most of the American People would rather be safe than ill or dead.

On November 3, 2020, the social distancing exercise voters in Congressional District Five should undertake is staying away from Andy Bigg’s name on the ballot and supporting a candidate that will recognize scientific and medical facts and put the people’s safety and interests first.

Please remember to register/sign up for the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL) in Arizona or any state that allows early or absentee balloting and mail in your vote by November 3, 2020. Please also remember to get any voter id a state or county office may need to process your ballot.

Remember election day is only 200 days away.

  1. Biggs, useless, arrogant, sanctimonious. What is it with Mesa and all these Speakers and former Speakers? Terrible, living in some fantasy world.
