The claim of “parents’ rights” that is being used to energize opposition to our schools is not only misleading but unlawful. Much like “states’ rights” is a dog whistle for racism, “parents’ rights” is a dog whistle for white supremacy. Parents have always had the ability to know what was going on in the schools.
