Sen. Russell Pearce: “Daddy, he said mean things to me!”

Monsters

Sen. Russell Pearce (R-Mesa) likes to demonstrate his manliness and what a "tough guy" he is by writing legislation to arm to the teeth every man, woman and child in Arizona so they can serve in a vigilante militia to round up anyone guilty of appearing Latino in public and deporting them to Mexico (regardless of citizenship or national origin status).

The gun thing, I am convinced, is compensating for something else. You know what I mean. The "I hates Mex-cans" thing is just pure unadulterated bigotry.

Like all bullies, Russell Pearce lives in constant fear (a Mex-can may accost him at Starbucks, so he carries a gun just to buy coffee). Bullies terrorize others to preemptively compensate for their own fears. Russell Pearce is like a scared little girl afraid of the monsters under her bed. The fear is irrational. The only monster that is real is Russell Pearce.

"Tough guy" Russell Pearce had House Speaker Kirk Adams remove Tucson lawmaker Daniel Patterson (D-Tucson) from his committee assignment because he was out of line in the way he spoke to Sen. Russell Pearce (R-Mesa), during a meeting last week of the House Committee on Military Affairs and Public Safety. "Daddy, he said mean things to me!" Patterson loses panel seat over remarks toward Pearce

Pearce was appearing before the panel to push legislation requiring the Department of Public Safety to seek grant funds to purchase seismic sensor equipment for use use around border area roads and airports to detect drug and human smuggling. Patterson questioned not only the effectiveness of the this plan, but other measures dealing with border security Pearce has sponsored.

"Your approach to immigration policy has failed for years," Patterson told Pearce.

Patterson also said he was not satisfied with some of the responses Pearce gave him about the number of people who have been killed in the border area. "I can assume you don't have the answers or just make them up."

Ooohh, the truth hurts. Pearce has been caught several times in the past making up facts. But House Speaker Adams said Patterson's removal was justified because "A lack of decorum simply cannot be tolerated."

Seriously? After the performance by Republican members of Congress over the weekend in the Capitol, even on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, you can say this with a straight face? Speaking the truth is "a lack of decorum"? Who knew.

Keep speaking truth to abuse of power by Sen. Russell Pearce, Mr. Patterson. We have your back.
