Sinema, Sundareshan, and Kelly Celebrate the Biden/Harris Infrastructure Dollars Coming to Arizona

Over the last several weeks, the Biden/Harris Administration has been approving applications for Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Projects and appropriating funds for them.

Recently, these funds have been allocated for wildfire prevention, clean energy buses, and solar power development.

Both Arizona Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly have issued joint statements on the wildfire prevention and the clean energy bus appropriations.

On the wildfire prevention grants, Senator Sinema commented:

“Through my bipartisan infrastructure law, we’re investing more than $6.8 million to strengthen Arizona’s wildfire response – keeping communities and loved ones safe from increasingly dangerous fires.”

Senator Kelly added:

Our bipartisan infrastructure law is strengthening Arizona communities’ response to wildfire threats. This will make a real difference in the lives of Arizonans by ensuring they have the tools to face and manage wildfire risks.”

The close to seven million dollars in wildfire prevention funds, designated from the Community Wildfire Defense Grant program will go toward:

  • Patagonia Roadside Hazardous Fuels Management.
  • Hualapai Mountain Community Wildfire Protection.
  • Community Wildfire Protection Plan for Coconino County.
  • Greater Flagstaff Region Community Wildfire Protection Plan Update.
  • Cochise County Community Wildfire Protection Plan Rewrite.
  • Santa Cruz County Community Wildfire Protection Plan.

On the $8.345 million allotment toward Arizona Clean Energy Buses, Senator Sinema offered:

“Today’s $8.3 million investment from my Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will bring 30 electric buses to Arizona – helping students travel safely to school while ensuring a cleaner and healthier Arizona.”

Senator Kelly conveyed:

“The impact of our bipartisan infrastructure law is reaching everyone, including kids. This investment will help schools in Arizona replace old buses so more students can ride zero-emission vehicles, improving health outcomes and reducing pollution.”

The clean energy buses, funded by the Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Schools Bus Program rebate competition will go to the following Arizona School Districts that will replace “30 older, diesel school buses with electric school buses.”

  • Chandler Unified.
  • Isaac Elementary.
  • Littleton Elementary.
  • Casa Blanca Community School.
  • Laveen Elementary.
  • Patagonia Union High School.
  • Joseph City Unified.
  • Madison Elementary.
  • Creighton Elementary.
  • Mohave Valley Elementary.

On solar power development, Senator Kelly, along with State Senator Priya Sundareshan took part in the Solar Gains-Solar Energy celebrations in Tucson to highlight the growth of green solar jobs in the area.

Responding to a request for further comment from Blog for Arizona, Senator Sundareshan added an earlier statement to the press that read:

“…The federal dollars represent an investment in the future of Arizona’s economy. “The sun is Arizona’s most abundant natural resource, and by investing in solar energy our state has the potential to become the solar energy capital of the country. Not only are we bringing good jobs to our state and building a 21st century economy, but we’re reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and creating a power grid that is both resilient and safe. I’m excited about the future for our state and our potential to become a leader in solar power.”

Arizona voters need to remember that the funding for these forward thinking sustainable clean energy projects came from the Biden/Harris Administration after they secured passage (through the leadership of Senators like Sinema and Kelly) of a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in Congress.

Donald ’34 Times Convicted’ and ‘I killed Roe v Wade’ Trump had nothing to do with it.

  1. Every project should have big signs proclaiming “This $xxx Million/Billion Project was paid for by the Biden Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.”
