Standish, MI to Liz Cheney: We Want Gitmo Detainees, Not Your Fearmongering

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

First, some background. The Washington Post reported that one of former Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughters, Mary, was “leaving the political consulting firm Navigators Global to start her own consulting company.” Though one of Mary’s friends told the Post that Mary’s dad and her sister, Liz, would be joining her, a spokeswoman for the family said “Liz is not involved” because “she is spending all of her time helping Vice President Cheney write his book.” But the claim that Liz Cheney is too busy with the book to take on other projects was undermined today with the launch of her new non-profit group, Keep America Safe.

Along with Cheney, Keep America Safe’s board features Weekly Standard editor William Kristol. The project is being helped by a number of former McCain campaign aides, including blogger Michael Goldfarb, war room chief Aaron Harison and video producer Justin Germany. (h/t Think Progress)

Dick Cheney and his evil spawn specialize in Neoconservative war mongering and fear mongering. Or as Dick Cheney described it, working the "dark side." Cheney’s “dark side” Quote | America at War

Evil spawn Liz Cheney has been busy fear mongering over Attorney General Eric Holder's decision to try some of the terrorism suspects held at Gitmo in American courts, and transferring some prisoners from Gitmo to a maximum security prison under consideration in Standish, MI. The town's citizens are none too happy with evil spawn Liz Cheney.

The Plum Line reports Small Town To Liz Cheney: We Want Gitmo Detainees, Not Your Fearmongering:

Officials in a small Michigan town featured in a new video about Guantanamo by Liz Cheney’s national security group want her to know that they’re not falling for her “fearmongering” — and tell us they want Gitmo detainees in their town.

Cheney’s group, Keep America Safe, has released a short documentary starring several residents of little Standish, Michigan, slamming the Obama administration over a proposal to transfer some Guantanamo detainees to the town’s maximum security facility, one of several facilities being discussed.

Standish’s City Manager tells us that local leaders and residents want the facility, and dismissed Cheney’s efforts as “fearmongering.”

Cheney is “certainly not representing the views of our community,” the City Manager, Michael Moran, told our reporter, Amanda Erickson.

While some local residents do appear to have expressed mixed feelings or opposition to the plan, Moran says that they’re an isolated minority that Ms. Cheney’s video elevates out of proportion in a way that’s “off base.”

What’s more, the Standish city council recently passed a unanimous resolution expressing support for bringing Gitmo detainees, citing job losses in the wake of the closing of the facility.

Seems that the good people of Standish just don’t have Liz Cheney’s understanding of the nature of the threat.

Cheney, Cheney & Cheney, consultants to the dark side. It is the story of one family bent on destroying everything America has represented for more than 230 years. It is the story of one family's vision for a nightmarish world. Maybe they can get Tim Burton to make the movie.
