The Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the organization most responsible for the collection of crazy MAGA/QAnon Republicans in the Arizona Legislature, is hosting a hoity toity Arizona Gubernatorial Forum for its members and the paying public, but not making the forum available to the general public online or via Zoom or another virtual service. 2022 Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate Forum:

The event will provide an opportunity to hear from the candidates directly about their policy priorities ahead of the General Election. KTAR News reports, Arizona gubernatorial candidates Lake, Hobbs to be on same stage — not at same time — during event:

Arizona gubernatorial candidates Kari Lake and Katie Hobbs will be on the same stage at the same event next month — but not at the same time.

Lake and Hobbs will participate in what’s being billed as a “one-on-one town hall” on Sept. 7 at the Republic National Distributing Company of Arizona in Phoenix.

Each candidate is scheduled to get about 20 minutes of time on stage with a moderator, Annie Vogt with the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who is putting on the event, told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Friday.

The order of candidates on stage and other logistics will be ironed out as the event gets closer, Vogt said.

Hold on, the Chamber is charging $60 for 20 minute interviews with a shill from the Chamber asking softball questions? What a total waste of money, unless you like shilling out $60 for the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Pass.

But wait! There’s more.

Kari Lake, who worked 22 years at Fox 10 KSAZ-TV in Phoenix is a trained and experienced propagandist, and let’s be honest, she is also an experienced actress who is now playing the role of a MAGA/QAnon politician.

She is also playing the role of “mean girl,” an expression used to describe girls who exhibit anti-social behavior known as relational aggression. The term was popularized by the movie Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan. Mean girl behavior includes gossip, verbal put-downs of others, bullying, backstabbing, and using others to get ahead.

OK, maybe she is not playing the role of mean girl, this sounds like something she has had a lot of practice at since Middle School.

Anyway, mean girl “Krazy Kari” Lake took to twitter on Friday to challenge Katie Hobbs to a debate.

Fitst of all, you shrill harpy Big Lie election denier, Joe Biden debated your boy Donald Trump three times, and the post-debate public polling showed Biden bested your boy Donny in all three debates. And then he went on to defeat your boy Donny in the election by over 7 million votes (81,268,924 to 74,216,154), and an electoral college landslide (306 to 232). So much for that worn GQP lie from 2020 that Joe Biden campaigned from the basement.  So you can stick that where the sun don’t shine, harpy.

BTW, your boy Donny was holding Covid-19 superspreader events that actually killed several people, including Herman Cain. Hell, the damn fool almost died himself from Covid-19. If he wasn’t president at the time with access to all the best medical care he almost certainly would have died.

Secondly, you boast that Katie Hobbs can pick the time and place, and the moderators, and even the questions.

Blog for Arizona has several trial lawyers skilled at cross-examination and a damn site tougher than the softball questions you are going to get from that Chamber of Commerce moderator. We would be happy to host this debate. How about if YOU face us, mean girl? Let us cross-examine, er, I mean question you. I’ll bet we can make you cry. You’re not so tough.

OK, let’s be fair. We can make some calls to the League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan organization with experience hosting debates. And let me offer a suggestion to the League for the moderators of this debate:

  • Howard Fischer, from Capitol Media Services, the “dean” of the Capitol press corps.
  • Bob Chrisite, longtime Associated Press reporter covering Arizona politics.
  • Brahm Resnik, host of “Sunday Squareoff” on News 12. That should be fun, since you have an unhinged fixation with Resnik.
  • Jim Nintzel, host of Arizona Public Media’s Arizona Illustrated “Political Roundtable”, and former editor of the Tucson Weekly.

These are real political reporters who are not going to put up with your “the media is the enemy of the people” nonsense. This will not be like that shitshow Republican gubernatorial primary debate that Ted Simons allowed on Arizona Horizon. What a useless waste of time.

We can make some calls to Katie Hobbs and her staff to set this up. If the League of Women Voters is willing to host, and these guys are willing to be the panelists, I would suggest that the Hobbs campaign jump at the opportunity.

So I don’t have to read any more ridiculous columns in the Arizona Republic from Laurie Roberts doing “Krazy Kari” Lake’s dirty work for her, like this, Katie Hobbs doesn’t want to go one-on-one in a debate with Kari Lake? Terrible move.

As I pointed out above, the Chamber of Commerce Arizona Gubernatorial Candidate Forum is useless. THIS is what Laurie Roberts is clutching her pearls over?

This is also why no one from the Arizona Republic fka the Arizona Republican should ever be a moderator for a debate.

  2. What about the Clean Elections debate that is an institution? Why are you and Hobbs avoiding that? Let’s do both!

    • The Clean Election debates are contracted to Arizona Horizon (PBS) with Ted Simons, “Mr. Congeniality” and nice guy. That’s why viewers like him. He has never asked a confrontational question, and he lets candidates like Lake walk all over him and the debate process, as he did with the shitshow of the Republican gubernatorial primary debate. Even you must have been embarrassed by that clusterfuck. Ted Simons is not cut out for this line of work. I have never been impressed with him. It takes hard-nosed reporters – actually prosecutors – who will demand an answer to their question and not allow demagogues like Lake to filibuster their time with a word salad of inflammatory nonsense.

          Thomas Duggar has tons of real world private sector business experience, including as a C level exec, supports education, and respects people’s rights!

          John Kavanagh lives on government checks, has cost Arizona over 2 billion dollars in lost revenue by being a racist creep, engages in stochastic terrorism against refugees (WWJD?) and lies about stuff all the time.

          Seems like a no brainer for Duggar!

          But since Lyin’ Johnny has been a huge fundraiser for RAICES, let’s keep that good karma going… let’s have him help fundraise for Duggar, too!

          Usually I’m all for debates, the more the better, but in Krazi Kari laKe’s case she should be debating a good psychiatrist.

I would relish the opportunity to ask Kari real questions that flow from her ‘policies’: like how do we replace the $40 billion per year in net subsidies the Federal Government hands AZ every year if she tries to stop cooperation with the Feds, or kicks them out of AZ, or secedes, or whatever her crazy boast is today?

    What will she do as Governor when the National Guard or AZ police try to arrest border crossing immigrants and asylum seekers and the Border Patrol or ICE stops them? Are you going to order them to disobey commands from federal agents?

    I could go on, and on, and on. But she’ll never face those kind of practical questions as long as she remains safely inside her fascist bubble of unreality. AZ voters can tell she hasn’t clue how to actually run the state – that’s why she’s trailing Hobbs by 10 points. If the AZGOP was a sane political party focused on solutions rather than purging their own ranks of any dissent against the loser Trump, we might actually have a productive policy discussion on the real existential issues facing us for the people of AZ.
