The recent coverage of the Reflecting Pool by the Lincoln Memorial is funny, and another demonstration of Donald Trump destroying something he touches.
However, while this episode is another example of Trump’s ineptitude, mismanagement, environmental destruction, and endangering living organisms (a duck died,) there are other events happening that merit more news coverage than this.
For example, Puerto Rico is having a water shortage because its infrastructure is in need of urgent repair. People in that United States territory are paying private companies $300 for a tub of water.
Over 770,000 children are now facing hunger because Trump and MAGA Republican policies in the Big Billionaire First Bill cut off assistance to those children on SNAP food assistance, so the top one percent can get tax cuts.
American livestock is threatened by a screwworm epidemic, threatening billions of dollars in agricultural economic activity, because Donald Trump allowed Elon Musk’s DOGE penny pinchers to cut $15 million in monitoring.
Donald Trump, his Judenrat consigliere on immigration, Stephen Miller, and their other White Nationalist loyalists are apparently going after DACA-Dreamer recipients by using the bureaucratic grinder to slowwalk their renewal applications so they can stay in the country and work here.
Trump’s war on science continues at conferences, where police security at a June event sponsored by the American Diabetes Association removed five people, some of them scheduled speakers, for distributing copies of an editorial critical of Trump’s anti-science agenda.
Not to be outdone, watch and read Robert ‘Brain Worm’ Kennedy give his assessment of people with autism last week.
“This is an individual tragedy as well. Autism destroys families, and more importantly, it destroys our greatest resource, which are our children. These are children who should not be suffering like this.
These are kids who, many of them, were fully functional and regressed because of some environmental exposure into autism when they were two years old. And these are kids who will never pay taxes, they’ll never hold a job, they’ll never play baseball, they’ll never write a poem, they’ll never go out on a date, many of them will never use a toilet unassisted. And we have to recognize we are doing this to our children, and we need to put an end to it.”
This is the person in charge of Health and Human Services for the country, and he is using his position to be a mouthpiece for vaccine denialism and Long Termist Eugenics dribble.
One glimmer of good news. The courts have stopped Trump’s attempts to rewrite history exhibits at the National Parks.
They, thanks to a George W. Bush appointee, have also halted his authoritarian attempt to go after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey because of their opposition to Trump’s ICE Gestapo criminal activities that resulted in the murder of two innocent Americans last winter.
Again.
Not saying the reflecting pool story is not important, but there are other events, like the ones introduced above and many others like coming to a sustainable peace treaty with Iran that does not give away the American Store, the war in Ukraine, the recent Ebola crisis in Africa, and Benjamin Netanyahu, through his Trump like ineptness and neo-fascist-imperialist agenda, making Israel a pariah state, that merit an equal amount, if not more attention.

The incompetence is the thing that makes this story important. Lots of MAGAts I know have pools, they get it.
The reflecting pool is the perfect example to PedoPOTUS’s incompetence and corruption.
Look up John J. Cafaro, the owner of Greenwater, the company that trashed the reflecting pool.
He’s a felon, and a Trump donor, and actually looks like a gangster from the 50’s. He’s been jailed, just this year, and remember James Traficant? John J. Cafaro was part of that whole bribery scandal.
If you want to break Trump’s corruption and stupidity down into easily digestible pieces for the MAGA masses, the pool is a great place to jump in.
It’s not the biggest story or most important, but as a teaching moment I give it one chef’s kiss.
I have no problem criticizing Stephen Miller. I do have a problem with bad history. The Judenräte were Jews living under Nazi terror and coercion. Miller is a willing participant in shaping government policy. Those are not remotely the same thing.
Speaking of willing participants, the head of the Lodz Ghetto Judenrat, Chaim Rumkowski, was so accommodating of the Nazis that when he was finally deported to Auschwitz he was beaten to death by the Jewish Sonderkommando inmates.

Moral of the story – appeasement doesn’t work. Never has & never will.
Ah, there’s a case where being persecuted does not automatically make someone virtuous. Historians are still debating Rumkowski‘s motivations, but no one can doubt Miller’s.
His motivations are academic, his actions are what counts.
Aside the reflecting pool fuckery since Doge was behind the return of the screwworm in “Texas “ so far shouldn’t Musk and his cohorts face consequences? There mass firing’s are directly responsible for this momentous disaster. Musk is a trillionaire now, Doge was under his direct control. He should be fiscally responsible for every cent of damage and damage to come. Or, just he just get to run around and inseminate more women and make another 14 more children? There has been multiple reports of him missing his child support payments? Musk is virtually worshiped by the GOP. He’s not any type of person that should be so adored, he’s despicable. But then again so is the entire Presidents cabinet. Zero accountability, zero morals, this has became a Republican stalwart lifestyle. Young men see them get away with this and what will many try and emulate?
Hmmmm, back in the day it seems ol’ Elmo violated the terms of his student visa. So many have been deported for less so it would be appropriate to strip him of his citizenship, cancel all his government contracts and ship him back to South Africa chained in the back of a C-130. Never happen of course, it’s borderline criminal how the national security establishment allowed him to worm his way in.
