There Are “Signs” the Voters Don’t Like Juan Ciscomani

The campaign season is on. One indication is the sudden growth of candidate signs on Tucson street corners, including a wave of three-foot tall blue ones for Juan Ciscomani. Advertising is good for the subject of the ad, right? Well, maybe not so much, if you’re Juan Ciscomani, the endangered congressman for Arizona’s Sixth District.

Someone on the Tucson version of the Reddit social media site took a photo of one of Ciscomani’s signs and posted it with the comment “Anyone ready for political season?”

We’ve noted before how Juan’s own Facebook postings bring forth a tsunami of negative comments. Turns out Reddit encourages the same. Of 196 comments on the post as of Saturday afternoon, six people had come out for Ciscomani—76 were opposed. (Although the post wasn’t strictly about her, 24 posts mentioned his Democrat opponent, JoAnna Mendoza. This being Reddit, most of the rest were arguments about the general state of government and politics, and challenges to non-voters by the more committed.) But the anti-Ciscomani tilt was reminiscent of our analysis of one of his recent Facebook posts, where comments ran 10 to 1 against him.

Reddit commenters are called “Redditors.” Their dissatisfaction with Ciscomani included several who noted his insistence on not holding town hall meetings in his district. “That sign has officially made more public appearances than the person it’s meant to give attention to,” was a good example.

More dissenters called out Ciscomani’s unbending support of Donald Trump. “He has basically sat back and rubber stamped an insane agenda,” said one. “Going to vote in favor of people vs Trump,” declared another. The congressman’s constant voting support of Trump has him identified as being in the MAGA segment of the Republican party: “That corporate maga [sic] tool needs to go!”

“He is a liar of the most blatant kind,” said an anti-Ciscomani poster. One comment was even more biting: “The smaller the man, the larger the sign.”

  1. Abject failure, he did nothing for his district but stand astride ICE’s cruelty and kissed the ring of a buffoon. He should leave the State. He’s a disgrace.

    • Like most of his fellow Repugs, Ciscomani embodies the classic Humphrey Bogart quip from The Maltese Falcon: “The cheaper the crook the gaudier the patter”.
