Far-right state Senator Kelli Ward, who is running against John McCain in the GOP primary for US.Senate, has Donald Trump’s money man, Robert Mercer, financing her KelliPAC TV ad asserting that McCain “betrayed us on amnesty” for undocumented immigrants by joining the “Gang of Eight” for immigration reform.
Nevertheless, “The Donald” was forced to endorse John MCain for reelection.
This schizophrenia is now evident in “The Donald’s” alleged “softening” of his immigration stance.
After spending the primary season highly critical of former Florida Governor Jeb! Bush’s immigration plan, insisting that he would round up all 11 million undocumented immigrants with a “deportation force” and build a “beautiful” wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, this week Trump adopted Jeb! Bush’s immigration plan. Trump’s nativist and racist supporters in the Mass Deportation Party must be apoplectic over his “betrayal on amnesty” for immigration reform.
Or are they? Do they understand that Trump is simply giving them a wink and a nod that he is “softening” his position on immigration to try to win a persuadable segment of the electorate only to win the election, but he will do exactly as they desire if he is actually elected president? Is this just a head-fake of an easily gullible media?
The Conervative Review (you read that right) writes Trump just officially adopted the Jeb Bush/Gang of 8 position on amnesty:
In part two of Republican candidate for president Donald Trump’s town hall with Sean Hannity [who has dropped all pretense and is now a campaign adviser to Trump], scheduled to air tonight on Fox News, it seems Mr. Trump will finally clarify his position on amnesty. For the worse.
Speaking on what to do with non-violent illegal aliens, Trump said that under his plan they will “pay back-taxes” and that it would be a “very hard thing” to “throw them and their family out.”
Having illegal immigrants pay a fine and back taxes to stay in the country was the policy proposed in the Gang of Eight amnesty bill!
Further, that is the position on amnesty once held by former candidate for the Republican nomination for president Jeb Bush.
“I think for the eleven or twelve million people here illegally, they should come out from the shadows, they should pay a fine, they should pay taxes, they should work,” Bush said in an interview back in October of 2015.

In case you missed the political atom bomb dropping last night, el Trumpo finally proved all of his detractors right by flip flopping on amnesty. He earlier said he was “softening” on letting illegals stay in America, and last night he admitted before a rabid Hannity audience that he would be OK with legalization as long as they paid back taxes.
In case you’re keeping score, that’s what JEB BUSH’s position was, it’s what Marco Rubio supported and later rejected, and it’s what Trump falsely accused Ted Cruz of supporting!!
And all of sudden he loves amnesty because he’s crapping himself over the terrible polling.

Jeb! Bush Blasted Trump’s ‘Abhorrent’ Immigration Shift today as well:
During a Thursday interview with WABC, Jeb Bush took Donald Trump to task for his recent “softening” on immigration policy. “Well, I can only say that whatever his views are this morning, they might change this afternoon, and they were different than they were last night, and they’ll be different tomorrow,” the former Florida governor told host Rita Cosby. In recent days, Trump’s apparent shift on his hardline anti-immigration stance has in fact echoed the policies Bush expressed in the primary.
Trump’s views, Bush continued, “seem to be ever, ever changing, depending on what crowd he’s in front of. Sounds like a typical politician, by the way, where you get in front of one crowd and say one thing, and then say something else to another crowd that may want to hear a different view. All the things that Donald Trump railed against, he seems to be morphing into—it’s kind of disturbing.”
Bush was perplexed as to what Trump really believes because he changes his stated beliefs so often. “His views will change based on the feedback he gets from a crowd, or, you know, what he thinks he has to do,” Bush said. “Life is too complex. For me I couldn’t do that. I have to believe what I believe, and if it’s popular, great, if it’s not, I try to get better at presenting my views. But shifting my views because, because it’s political to do it? That’s what politicians do in this country, that’s what Trump is trying to do right now. I find it abhorrent.”

A couple of quick thoughts. Trump is not going to persuade the people he has stigmatized over the past year or so with his nativist, racist and bigoted remarks that he is really just a swell guy. “It was all just an act for the GOP crazy base, I was kidding!” They are not buying it.
And Trump is risking alienating the GOP crazy base, the very xenophobic nativists and racists of the Mass Deportation Party that voted for him in the GOP primary ans secured the GOP nomination for him. They are apoplectic over his “betrayal on amnesty” for immigration reform.
Unless . . . this is just a head-fake of an easily gullible media, who will once again do their best stenographic reporting and tell us what a swell guy “The Donald” really is.
On the off chance that “The Donald” is elected president, Dante is going to have to add a special ring of hell in the Inferno for these feckless media villagers. I hope it is an unimaginable horror for their punishment.

I believe Trump is just being a politician and is saying what he thinks the people want to hear. And, sadly, I think a certain amount of the people will believe him and vote for him because – in politics – saying what people want to hear works! Plus, there are large numbers of people that are looking for reasons NOT to vote for Hillary and a little contrition on the part of Trump might give them what they need. Stranger things have happened in politics.
I’ve been following DJ T.rump’s rhetoric this week on immigration. He is now saying that he really likes good immigrants, but that we have to get rid of the so called bad ones. Does anyone else see a similarity between this and the debate over gun control? That is, the gun zealots are always telling us that gun control laws won’t work because the bad guys will still be able to get guns. Well, won’t the so called bad guys also be able to easily foil a 20 foot high wall?
