Another day with the country sliding towards an American Dark Age and what Rachel Bitecofer calls a Trumpcession.
Halving the United States Department of Education staff.
Revoking $20 billion in Environmental Protection Agency Climate Change Grants.
Cutting one billion in programs that provide school meals and food security.
Playing tariff war with Canada and tanking people’s 401 K’s and the Stock Market in the process. When Fox News White House Reporter Peter Doocy is calling out the Musk/Trump/Vance Central Committee at the White House in real time on this, MAGA world has problems.
Working to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid under the pretense of claiming these programs have billions in widespread fraud.
Passing a continuing funding resolution in the House of Representatives that cuts social justice programs and provides time and latitude for the Musk/Trump/Vance Central Committee to gut the federal government by the fall where MAGA Republicans will vote to codify them.
Dropping lawsuits against predatory landlords.
What was the Felon in Chief doing while his MAGA team was busy doing their best to turn the clock back on American Progressivism, gut the social safety net, torpedo the United States Economy, and make America dirtier again with their Project 2025 agenda?
He was fiddling with Elon ‘Sieg Heil’ Musk at a Tesla Auto Show on the White House Lawn.
Why?
Because the American Duce wanted, with prepared notes written for him, to help his puppet master because Tesla Stock is hemorrhaging thanks to the American consumer successfully protesting Musk and DOGE’s efforts to indiscriminately slash the federal workforce and turn government operations upside down.
Arizona Democratic Leaders offered their perspectives on the days dreary events.
On the gutting of the United States Department Education staff, Arizona House Democratic Leader and Ranking Member on the Education Committee Nancy Gutierrez wrote in a statement:
“It takes an act of Congress to abolish a federal agency, not a decree by a wannabe monarch. This is a rogue administration that has handed over your private data and banking information to Elon Musk and his cronies, and now Trump wants to devastate and destroy public education in the nation he pledged to lead – not to exploit and strip for parts. Gutting the Department of Education will be devastating for Arizona – especially for those students and families with the highest needs. This country and our state deserve better. I have no doubt this illegal act will be challenged in court, but how much damage will he do to our state, to our kids and to our economy by sowing chaos? It is long past time for members of Congress to stand up for the people they represent and defend their role in the American system of government before he waves his wand and takes that away too.”
Arizona Senator Mark Kelly also wrote about the employment cuts at the Department of Education, offering on social media:
“Every Arizonan I talk to wants better schools and a better education for their kids. How does gutting the Dept. of Education help achieve that? It doesn’t.”
On the Injustice Department dropping a lawsuit against predatory “RealPage, Inc. and several major corporate landlords,” Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes wrote in an office press release:
“Millions of renters—including many in Arizona’s two largest cities—have been harmed by this unlawful conduct. This scheme stifled competition, created a de facto rental monopoly, and drove up housing costs for working families. That’s why my office sued nine corporate landlords and RealPage for price-fixing in Arizona. But this is a national crisis, which is why the DOJ, and 10 other states also took legal action. The federal lawsuit must continue.”
“I intend to press forward with the case I filed in Arizona against Real Page, but I also urge the Trump administration, through the DOJ, to see its case through. RealPage and its co-conspirators engaged in unfair and anticompetitive practices that forced families to pay artificially high rents at a time when many are struggling to get by. Addressing this issue is essential to making housing more affordable—not just in Arizona, but across the country.”
On the direction the Musk/Trump/Vance Central Committee is taking the economy, Arizona Democratic House Leader Oscar De Los Santos wrote in a social media post:
“Musk and Trump are going to drive the economy in the ground — all so the billionaire oligarchs make even more money.”
On the Injustice Department siding with greedy landlords, De Santos posted:
“TERRIBLE: Trump is reportedly trying to kill the DOJ lawsuit against corporate landlords who illegally raised rent on hardworking families in AZ. Thankfully, @AZAGMayes will continue to fight for us. (BTW: I introduced HB2847 to crack down on these predatory landlords.)”
On the Tesla Auto Festival at the White House, Senator Ruben Gallego posted:
On explaining her decision on the MAGA Continuing Resolution, Representative Yassamin Ansari posted a video just before casting her nah vote, saying that the measure:
“Would give Donald Trump and Elon Musk the tools they need to line their pockets with your money…this Republican budget takes funding away from affordable housing, veterans benefits, and reverses investments in our roads and bridges. Republicans are literally delivering a blank check to the White House so they can continue allowing unelected billionaire Elon Musk and Trump to steal from the American People. With this vote, they’re also supporting Trump’s tariffs that are already destroying our economy…This (MAGA plan) is about laying the groundwork for them to make even more funding cuts down the line to programs you rely on like Medicaid…Under a full year CR like this, the Administration and Donald Trump get to write the rules of how taxpayer dollars are spent instead of letting Congress do our job to appropriate funding…It opens the door for Republicans to enact their extreme agenda…That agenda includes cuts to Medicaid, Head Start, SNAP, and funneling money to ICE and the Pentagon…(and) tax cuts to billionaires and corporations…Their priority isn’t working people, immigrants, or families. It’s their unquestioning loyalty to the authoritarian administration. that’s currently in the White House…”
On the Department of Education job cuts, Representative Ansari stated in a post:
“Education is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy. Trump’s plans to destroy the Department of Education will kick kids out of kindergarten, leave students with disabilities without support, and put teachers out of work. Education is how we build a better future for all of us, but Trump is actively gutting public education to give tax breaks to billionaires at the expense of our kids.”
Representative Greg Stanton issued two posts on the MAGA continuing resolution and the halving of the Department of Education staff:
“My job is to stand up for Arizonans, and Speaker Johnson’s hyper-partisan continuing resolution fails Arizona. It fails to provide funding for veterans’ health care, water infrastructure, and wildland firefighter pay. It fails to protect Arizonans’ hard-earned benefits like Medicare, Medicaid & Social Security. It fails to rein in Elon Musk & DOGE as they take a sledgehammer to critical services Arizonans rely on. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work on a bipartisan agreement, but on this bill I’m a NO.”
Donald Trump is doing what he has always been good at: not paying bills, lying and backstabbing his employees, and bankrupting everything he touches.
Miss Joe Biden and Kamala Harris yet.
